Hello,
Had a heck of a time and went back on forth on whether to buy Sena or Cardo and finally went with Cardo Freecom 4X and I have to say it's awesome. Very small and flat out works. If you are on the fence about a headset so you can use Apple CarPlay I would highly recommend the Cardo Freecom 4X if you don't need a mesh compatible headset. I was originally going to get the PackTalk Edge that is just coming out but since the Mesh between Cardo and Sena aren't compatible it was a waste of money since 99% of the time will only be me and my wife. If you ride in a group then Mesh is good as long as everyone has either Cardo or Sena but my understanding is that they will not work unless the same brand as the mesh is not compatible If not the same brand then you are using bluetooth which isn't near as good as mesh as you have to daisy chain and if one rider drops off then the connection drops for everyone. Mesh is definitely the way to go if you ride in groups and cant get everyone to agree to get the same brand - which is highly unlikely.
I got the 4X because it comes with the voice commands which work awesome. If you get the Freecom 2X you can only talk to a passenger and you don't get the voice commands feature so you have to push buttons on the actual unit so either way the 4X is worth it as the voice commands make things so easy. The 4X allow you to talk to a passenger and daisy chain on two other riders so at least I have that option if me, my wife and my brother goes on his bike - regardless of whether or not he buys a cardo brand we can use bluetooth.
The JBL speakers are flat out the beset sounding small speakers I have ever heard - sounds like a concert hall in your helmet.
Just passing on my experience - YMMV. Shop around as can find better price and Cycle Gear will match a legit online price and install the system in your helmet for free! I bought a new HJC I 90 and the guy at the store had it installed in 10 minutes.
