I just got the Cardo Freecom 4x, I'm having a few connection issues, hoping someone can help me out. To connect it to my phone and the bike, do I use the first Bluetooth channel to connect the Cardo to my phone and the second "GPS" Bluetooth channel to pair it to the bike or the second phone channel to connect it to the bike?

Also should I expect it to auto-connect when I have the Cardo unit on and the bike on or do I need to pair it each ride?

You connect the phone to the bike and you connect the headset to the bike. You do NOT connect the headset to the phone. The bike is the control center for everything.

Make sure you delete the pairing you have for the headset to the phone.

At that point it should all auto connect as you turn on the bike.

Thanks very much, I'll give that a try.

Do you users of 2018+ Goldwings still recommend the Cardo Freecom 4X? I don't really need the mesh feature of the Edge. I can save about $100 with the Freecom 4X Duo over the Edge. Not sure I would gain anything, in fact seems that there are few users with "issues" with the Freecom 4X vs the Edge or the Sena 50S. Looking for the easiest use for me and my wife and maybe two other riders....thxs

I am glad I spent the extra for MESH - although I'm using the Sena 50s. I ride with several riders who don't have Wings and the bike to bike communication of Senas Open MESH requires just pressing a button and we're connected.

You "don't" have to use the MESH BUT if you're with a group of riders and they have it - it does make it nice to be able to communicate as you ride instead of waiting for a red light at a traffic signal or stop sign.

Plus bluetooth pairing just sucks.

Do you need mesh intercom?
No not necessary. But it makes thing more easier. Even in a group of 2 persons
The Goldwing is not easy with bluetooth. Mesh intercom does not use a bluetooth channel. Because of that, there are less connections issues between the headset and Goldwing and as a result less problems with Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

My problem is when myself and wife are talking and i want to mute the mikes i press the button behind the antenna and hear only music. I tried pressing it again to talk with her on the back of the bike and it would not open the mikes.

Have you tried the voice command for MESH?

Thanks for everyone's input. It took way to long to decide, but I finally decided to order new Sena 50S dual for my new 2023 Goldwing on the way. My buddies all use Sena headsets (with Bluetooth). Found a great deal on Amazon. Excited!
