As far as this thread goes, many don't realize how quick the Wing really is. Raced a few Tesla Model X P100Ds, and even Model S plaids. Up to about 50-60 MPH, I was pulling away. By the time we hit 80 (which comes very quick), they were starting to gain back on me. My guess is they would have passed by me at 105 or so - and I'm starting to hit my speed limiter.
Did you race the Model S Plaid from a dead stop? Watch this vid from 2:37 to 2:47. It's a drag race from a stop, Hayabusa vs a Tesla Model S Plaid. The Busa loses right from the getgo.

In the non dragstrip mode which is sometimes called the "Cheetah Stance," the Model S Plaid does 0-60 in 2.45 seconds. Cycle World's test of the DCT obtained a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.17 seconds and a 1/4 mile time of 12.91 seconds at 104.89 mph. If you were pulling away from a Model S Plaid from a dead stop up to 50-60 mph, you must have one exceptional DCT.

Yea it amazes me that some think this wing is a fast motorcycle...yea the 6-speed more or less equals the quickest motorcycle from 50 years ago but compared to today's big bore bikes..or even 600cc sportbikes this wing is a slug...but it is fairly quick for a 830lb touring machine and of coarse it's 100 plus ftlbs of torque at only 1200rpms is very satisfying.

Yep, dead stop. It's quite different on the street versus a dragstrip; anyone who's raced serious cars knows the traction is different. And without that 15 minute battery pre-heat, a lot of the "kick" of the plaid isn't there.

My GPS and acceleration apps are consistently mid 3s for 0-60. And CT's 1/4 mile time is fully 1 second slower than the quarter mile time we just saw. Dunno how accurate CT is!

Here's a page that lines up exactly with the video we just saw:

This page shows an 11.9 second 1/4 mile time, which is what we saw on the video. It also shows a 3.4 second 0-60, which is what I consistently see.

Gone are the days of 12 second cars being fast, now there are more than a few off the lot 4 door sedans that’ll run 12’s.
Bikes haven’t gotten much quicker in the last 20 years, my pea brain says traction is the main reason, can have all the power in the world and if you can’t put it to the ground it’s useless.
The GW isn’t fast or quick by any stretch when it comes to bikes.

I SOLD quick and fast to buy my Gold Wing: when my but hurts and by back and neck are sore after an hour in the saddle, quick and fast ain't worth much. However, what a pleasant surprise I enjoyed the first time I put my DCT into sport mode. It's absolutely a whole different motorcycle. But for me, eh, oddly enough I almost never do so. I'm just as happy as I can be rolling through the gears at a medium clip... almost everywhere I go. It's nice to know there's a lot more grunt just a click away, but for me, I enjoy that machine every time I get on it, all the while turning maybe 8 second 0-60 times. And one big plus with my riding habits: I'm not looking at a bald rear tire and another 350 bucks to replace it every 7k miles.

I got away from the fast motorcycle because the power is just so addictive and I didnt want to risk my perfect driving record and great insurance rates with speeding tickets anymore...not to mention the comfort just isn't there and insurance cost with those machines is just so expensive.

I hear ya, Roadie. I'm as much drag racing fan as anybody, and I have certainly enjoyed owning and operating some pretty expensive and exciting high performance equipment. But it's funny how quality and smooth, comfortable and refined, amenities and options trump FAST after awhile. Reminds me a bit of my younger days as I laughed at love songs, great harmonies and timeless oldies... on the alter of late 60's and 70's hard rock. So here I am 50 years later with little or no interest in the hard stuff, but just loving the oldies that have stood the test of time. Hmmm even find myself more likely to enjoy a leisurely horse ride through the woods rather than a jaunt on the roller coaster, which I just loved when I was younger: but now, not so much. Funny how things change over time.

For bikes? Nope.

For cars? Yep.
