Crabballs,
I would definitely go for the LS2 Cardo 4x intercom, the helmet is fully designed to integrate it well, no point in having an intercom hanging off the side, universal cables hanging around etc etc.

Question,
How is the fit/size between a Shei and LS2?
What size (year & model) Shoei helmets did you use and have, and what size LS2 is this Advent? (you mentioned this is a xxl LS2 advent x carbon correct?)

Reason I ask is, no one around here has these on the floor, all I have by is online size charts and my previous helmets.
I tried ordering helmets online using size charts, and returned them all, none fit correctly.

Taz,

I reported this in the other thread but I'll repeat it here. I ride with a Neotec 2 right now. Fits me well. I've also had good experiences with Nolan and Schuberth helmets. I'm definitely a long oval head. For poops and giggles, and because my dealership has a whole wall full of these LS2 helmets in every size, I tried on the Advant and Advant X in XL, XXL, and XXXL. Not a one of them fit! The chin bar was smashed against my chin when closed in each size. YMMV but perhaps you can use my experience as a reference point to the other helmets mentioned. You definitely need to try one on B4 buying.

If everything is tucked in the back of the helmet how do you connect to other Cardos or other features. I assume many things are voice activated.
It's seems like they are using the buttons on the controller that will be on the left side of your helmet once installed. Here's a YouTube video that explains basic functionality.

I did read your post in the other thread and that was one on my concerns as well. It didn't seem to be a problem for me. I followed the advice given by others, to try on before you buy. Fit is everything. If you can't get it locally, try Speed Addicts as they even include a preprinted return shipping label should your helmet doesn't fit.

Glad it worked for you

I love the design of this helmet, being able to switch from open face to full face with one hand while riding. I bought an LS2 Valliant 2 helmet with this design last year. It is heavy, and a little snug (size XXL) but I thought it would break in and fit fine. NOT. Horrible headache after 30 minutes of riding. I understand the new Advant version is a little lighter but, as stated earlier, it's all abouth the fit. I have a long oval head and these are designed for an intermediate oval head shape. I sold it on Facebook and went back to my LS2 Strobe modular helmet. A little lighter and designed for my head shape. Size XL, and all-day comfortable, if a little warm in the summer heat.

Yes, it finally arrived today instead of the scheduled last Friday. As I was planning on giving it a good workout over the weekend. Not a big deal as I have plenty of time to enjoy it. I tried to get it from the Cycle Gear store near me, but that didn't work out. So I searched and found Speed Addicts had my size in stock and jumped on it.

First impression, I really think I'm going to like it. Very comfortable with plenty of room around the ears, which should make installing speakers somewhat easier and getting them properly aligned. The chin strap connection is going to take some getting used to as I've used D-Ring all my life. Other than that, the real test is going to be real world riding in all conditions, especially rain, to see how it performs. And most important to me, how quiet will it be? I tried installing the Pin-Lock shield, but gave up as I didn't want to force it and break something. This will be a challenge for another day.

And I really want to thank @Fred H. and @Zee Fifty for giving me the inspiration to get one of these fancy new fangled modular helmets. There input from another thread was extremely valuable in selecting this model.

I have to say that the carbon fiber looks so much better in person than it does on the net.

Thank you for a great assessment of this homer. I am a Neotech user and love them specially for the integrated Sena communication system but I was riding with a group a couple of weeks ago and first time seeing this helmet and caught my.
keep us posted in the long distance or long hours riding comfort
i am also assuming the weight of the helmet being carbon fiber is much less then a conventional helmet?

Post #66 in this thread gives the weight of the various LS2 Advant helmets.

I just got the Pinlock shield installed. Nice and clean and even shot some nitrogen in there to prevent fogging between shields. The silicone bead they put on the shield should, hopefully, keep that super dry nitrogen in place. Now I'm just waiting for that rainstorm we're supposed to have so I can test it. :)

My first preliminary test was good. The rain was moderate to light, which was a disappointment for the test I really wanted to conduct. The crosswinds were horrendous and added to the fun with the windshield all the way down. At 55-60 MPH on the open highway with crosswinds and rain, the Pinlock performed as advertised with no fogging and visibility good. And the wind noise was about the same or to a slightly less degree compared to the Shoei GT-Air. For a modular helmet I think this is good news. With the windshield full up, the wind noise is all but gone. Definitely a lot better than the Shark. The ultimate test for me is how well it performs in a heavy downpour. Looking at the weather radar we might have one in a few hours. So far, color me impressed!

The Cardo came early and I got it all charged, updated, and installed. I must say that this was probably the easiest install I ever had. The speaker pockets are nice and deep and ready to accept the JBL speakers. I did add headphone cushions to direct the sound to where it needs to be, your ears. This also cuts down on road noise as well. One note, Cardo ships this to default to Bass Boost in the Audio Profile menu, which is totally unnecessary with the cushions as bass is excellent. Set the Audio Profile to High Volume to get a flatter more accurate response curve that cuts down on distortion since you're not wasting that power overdriving the bass. The benefit is a lower volume setting that yields a much cleaner accurate sound. Here a few pictures of the install.

Control unit adhered to the helmet. The controls are easy and straight forward. I just have to get my muscle memory to adjust as I'm so used to Packtalk Bold.

Here's one of the JBL speakers with the headphone cushion installed.

And speaker covered with the helmet liner flap. It doesn't seem to affect sound quality and I'm not sure if I want to leave it as is or cut it off.

And finally, the USB dongle set in an extremely secure location that doesn't require tucking and untucking when needed. It's on a good angle that allows the USB cable to be plugged in and not touch the flat surface the helmet is set on while charging. The last thing you want to do is damage the USB socket.

Great photos. Should be helpful for potential buyers!

OK folks, I had the opportunity this morning to put on 190 miles with the new helmet and Cardo. Took a nice ride to get a Southern Maryland Stuffed Ham sandwich and pick up a nice load of country sausage, and of course more stuffed ham. One amazing thing I noticed with the LS2, the air flow with the vents open is amazing compared to the Shoei GT-Air. You can actually feel the air circulating and keeping your head cool. Comfort was nice, so that made the ride so enjoyable. This was on a 92° full sun day. So, fit and finish is just right for me. I think I'm falling in love with this helmet!

I finally got mine yesterday, in Gloss White!! Love the fit…waiting for my other store to get the LS2 Cardo in!
FYI I work for a Powetsports store that has 3 locations. The Parts Manager @ 1 store had both the LS2 Advants and HJC I100. He sold out on the LS2’s in 2 months and no longer orders the HJC’s! Our other store had the same but both sold the same!

Nice!! The XXL helmet I tried on at Cycle Gear was white. It's definitely a nice looking helmet in that color. Congrats on getting it. I don't know why they don't offer more colors. I know they made a glossy carbon, but I don't think they do any more. I'm happy!!

@KfordFam that LS2 is rather stunning in gloss white, think I need to get my wife and I fitted. Am assuming I can put my J&M wired headset in it?

I only wear white helmets, because they keep my gourd coolest in summertime. There's a world of difference in heat, comparing black and white. Silver is almost as cool as white, but not quite

Sure can. If you already have the speakers, mic and cable you are good to go. Very easy!!

Since I use both the Cardo and wired connection at the same time or independently for navigation and two-way radio communications, I had to incorporate both into one system.

As you can see, I am using a hidden mic (The little one that came in the box) that I placed into the cheek pad strictly for the Cardo. The boom mic is strictly for the two-way radio. Both share the same speakers. The audio quality is excellent on both the Cardo for phone calls and for talking on the two-way. I'm seriously thinking about eliminating the boom mic and burying another mic in the cheek pad.

After 30 days, I think it's time to give you guys an update on the helmet and Cardo. The more I wear it the more comfortable it has become, so I think either the helmet is broken in, or maybe it's my head. The air flow has been good in keeping my head cool under Maryland's oppressive heat. Overall, it doesn't even feel like I have a helmet on, even on long rides. For comfort, fit and features, this helmet has been a winner for me. My only complaint is that damn latching system they use on the strap, it sucks and I wish they'd stuck with D-Rings! Even after a month I still can't find the stinken hole on the first try. Maybe a little hair would help? :D

Now for the Cardo. I think I'm happy! I finally got the startup timing down 90% connectivity. Timing is everything, so I figured out that after I start the bike the Vantrue F1 dashcam starts automatically with a beep. I power up Cardo at that exact moment and it's been hitting the mark almost every time and going right into Android Auto. That nightmare is behind me, thankfully. I think the audio quality is a step up from the Packtalk Bold, but this might be partly due to the extra depth in the helmet's speaker pockets. Everything just lined up perfectly with my ears. I did opt to fold over the cloth flaps as that yield a better seal to my ears and headphone cushions. For comparison, the LS2/Cardo system has a volume setting of two bars on the bike's voluime control. Comparing that to six bars using my Shoei/ Cardo Packtalk Bold. This is the perfect lever for comfortably enjoying music and navigation. Oh, and don't even think about turning the volume all the way up. I did it accidently and it is painfully loud. I wonder if Cardo put a slightly more powerful amp in the LS2 unit. I think the LS2 4x is going to be a keeper eventhough first impression was a real letdown and pushed my patience to the limt.

I have had my Advent Carbon X now for 5 weeks. I rode it 4500 miles in that 5 weeks. For me this helmet is a dream come true. Like you I was cussing at the buckle. I have to admit, it took me quite a while to get it latched a few times. I finally learned how to do it consistently without frustration. The helmet is a little more complicated to learn how to use. Top center tab on the face shield was hard to get used to. It’s weird when riding in 3/4 mode with the face shield down and it starts to rain, you grab your chin bar and pull it down and your face shield raises. Then you have to lower that. I don’t think it works in the rain as well as my Shuberth C4 did. If the face shield is cracked to get fresh air in the rain it’s seems to let in some rain. I’m not a big rain rider so that is not a big issue for me.

It’s a winner in my book. I really like it. It’s great to have and open face and full face out on the road on big trips in various weather conditions. It’s a great concept.
