I have been using the Honda navigation when I first bought the bike new in 11/23. In May 2024 My first cam up as I was in Xenia OH. I went to a conference, bike was off for 5+ hours. Never had a problem with the GPS, then I went to turn the bike back on leave. The dash did the rider splash screen with the OK on it the the navigation screen came up that said navigation initializing. It was stuck there for about 10 minutes. I kept riding because I know about when I was to get back on the highway. I stopped 3 times and restarted. Two times at a stoplight and once in a parking. It did not fully initialize and start working until the 3rd time. It had worked flawlessly up until that point.

I decided to go with Android car play as a back up right after that incident. I went to the dealer June 21 (powersports) to get a 4K checkup/oil change/parking brake adjust...etc. I used Honda nav to get there and nav was working when I arrived. Service was done. I got on my bike and started to leave and got the navigation is initializing again followed by the three dots. This time I did the same thing as before and it wont initialize. Its stuck in that screen but everything else works as before. I can select anything else from the home screen and it works, just not the nav. I confirmed I have the latest software installed per the dealer. There is nothing the dealer has done, to my knowledge. Now I'm back to Android car play. I do like Android car play but want the navigation fixed because it is a new bike. I will keep using Android car play even after its fixed. I have a dealer appointment on Saturday. Various dealers have said they have never heard of that issue. I thought there might be a combination of buttons to reset it but they say no, only the one for a lost or bad key.

Did you check to see if you have the latest software update?

I have recommended this previously for folks having intermittent problems.

Use you mobile phone and video record the incident, and while recording, state the date, time, mileage on the bike and any other details a technician might find helpful. With video evidence, there can be no question about the problem when you take your bike into service for appropriate warranty diagnosis and repair.

Good luck.

I dont have to video it. It shows that every time. It won't come out of initialization. When you start the bike, that gets stuck there.

I would suspect maybe something blocking your gps antenna or a loose cable connection. I’m not exactly sure where it’s located though. Maybe somebody else can chime in.
That is what one dealer in So Cal said to check. If they took the seat off, that may have accidentally made the gps antenna undone. I have never removed the seat, but they may have during service. I guess I will look at the service manual. It may have never been screwed tight in the first place.

Okay, but you might want to check it yourself through the bike menu - the latest is HG.ACM.21.11.28.12.04.00.

Menu -> Audio Setting -> General Setting -> System Information -> Software Version
I did check the version myself and that is what I have. Thanks

Here are the screens. As you can see, everything else is good. The third picture shows what appears when I click on the navigation. I am going to disconnect the battery for approximately 30 minutes and let the electrical system drain.

I agree with @gravnov ....start with a system reset just to clear everything out and start fresh.

If the problem persists, suggest reloading the 2023 audio nav update. You should be able do it yourself if you feel comfortable loading routes. Similar, but much longer, process. The Honda website how to is pretty good at walking you through the steps.

As a best practice, make sure that routes not being used are deleted from the system.

If the reset doesn't fix it, check your GPS antenna connectors.
The So Cal dealer suggested checking the connections first. I'm in the Louisville, KY area, so QUALIFIED dealers are hard to find. I tend to call outside my local area because they probably have seen more than anyone locally.

I'm sure I can do the upload if needed. I need to complete all of this by Saturday.

Just remove the seat and unplug the GPS antenna connector on the audio unit and plug it back in.

Fred H, you are probably right. The reflash did nothing. It's still doing the same thing. I will get the seat off today.
