Is there anyhing "special" about removing the lower side cowls on an 06 Comfort - as in what about the foot-warmer vent? Going to remove the side cowls, the front cowl and engine side covers and paint them black.

Thanks in advance.

i just took mine off on saturday to send to paint

remove front lower cowl first

then

there are two nuts under the footpeg area

then

one bolt is in front about where the fog lights would be

then pull down hard on the front-lower portion

then slide the entire thing foward and down

the cable is still attached

one nut comes out to remove the clip that holds the cable

and the cable has a ball like fastener, just turn it until the exit slot lines up

Nothin special, just be sure to remove the front lower cowl first. There are two nuts, one for each side inside and behind the front lower cowling. Then two nuts underneath on each side and finally some hooks on the backside at the exhaust protectors. When you remove all of the 3 nuts for each side pull it down some off of the studs then forward to disengage the hooks or tangs that secure the rear portion next to the exhaust protectors. Then just remove the cable for the footwarming ducts. One other thing watch for is those rubber antirattle covers to come off the hooks when removing or reinstalling these pieces.
