How many miles do you have on yours?
10k and it's about half gone. Wearing uniformly but don't have the roads the smokies guys have. The 709 on the front is wearing out the sides more than the middle, but the dunnie is showing minimal wear on the sides. Nothing like trialsman chewing his up.

I talked to my tire guy today. I had him call the place where he gets the 175-60. They have about 200 ready to ship. ;)

Okay Trialsman where is your guy located. Can't find them anywhere in stock. Mine has 19.5k on it and I need to replace it asap.

TIA

PM me, I can get one sent to your door for 200 bucks.

As soon as you say that you want it, I'll order it. Put the funds in the mail, when it comes in, I'll ship to address you choose that day or next.. Process usually takes about a week.

That's it .. the 175mm is off the bike at 16850 miles. I got every mile available out of it.. I don't think I could have gotten another hundred miles. I'm pretty happy with it considering the narrower tire and the softer rubber... I put my 195 Wintersport back on as it only had 5k of wear.

I may be one of the few lucky ones with a new 175mm tucked away where no one knows. ....Forget it I ain't telling where I live... Cheers... :doorag:

16k? wow, that is good to hear. I have mine tucked away too. I wish I knew you were going to retire that tire. I was thinking how this tire would do with the air let out (flat tire sim). I am hearing this tire isn't doing so well with regards in running totally flat. Hearsay to me but still want to prove or disprove.

Here I go....getting into trouble I bet. :joke:

I have watched that film clip with that destroyed tire, several times, read all the things posted about it, and I am very suspicios about the whole deal. Even if ran with no air on a motorcycle, as badly torn up and damaged that tire is, you could not keep the bike up, you would basically be riding on the rim with the tire smashing around in the way, it would be like trying to ride a buffalo.

As badly torn up as the tire is........I have the suspicion it was never on a motorcycle, looks to me like a tire looks ran on a car for some distance to get it into a shop , I have done that, just go on and take it into town on a dead tire, time you get there it is rolled off the rim, torn up, rubber bits falling off, wire sticking out......just like that one....

I do not believe the story .............pretty sure no one could ride a bike to the point of damage that tire is in.

Thanks for the info on the tire !! Was hoping it was higher than that though LOL . It is a good looking tire in the picture !

I am running the Vanco 2 on mine and sure do like it. it is a 195/65r16 and speedo is accurate. It is wearing very well, Only problem is a slight rubbing on the inside of the swing arm. Get up over 100MPH and you can smell the rubber getting hot there LOL, Leaves a real thin black line on the outer edge of the tire, right hand side looking from the back.

JMHO

I run the 205x60 which puts the speedo 100% on as compared to the gps and it also rubs just a tad when new but at 22k it's just fine.

I'm a bit surprised at only 16k but perhaps this tire is really soft and stick which would explain this. I am pretty much geared to 30k or better with the CT I have now and the 175 formosa on the trike looks like brand new at just over 12k but that's a trike so different story.
I am guessing 38-40 psi on this tire? I did notice the smaller tires require a bump in AP over the 205 and 195's

A few more thoughts on the 175mm. The upside of the 175mm size is the MC characteristics and the ease of steering with very little tire imput at slow speeds..

A couple of downsides... one is the lack of miles..., compared to a mc tire it's great. However, compared to other CTs', the narrow width and the soft rubber of a Winter tire make it not so good for the outstanding miles the CTs' have been turning in...One other observation. The tire starts out at .230" smaller on diameter than a stock tire. This is OK while new, however, as the tire starts to wear the ratio of the engine RPMs' to the wheel speed became a minor issue.... Thats all I have for now.. Cheers...:doorag:

Alternate Rear Tire install

With all the questions about install of the CT. right now, figured it time to bump this thread to the top.... I have used this method on all my tires with 100% success.... The best thing is it doesn't matter if it's a 205mm or a 195mm, you set the tire in the well and lower the bike to align the stud holes. The weight of the bike does the heavy push of the tire past the brake caliper. Generally takes about 30 mins... No hitch or rear fender removal issues.... Looks scary, but it works.... Cheers...:doorag:

175 sizes

Report from Munich Germany. Seems these tires are still made and sold in the EU. The winter sport 175 60 16 rof were all sold out in June and will not be restocked by dealers untill Sept. There is a few others they sell for summer, but not riun flat. Dunlop 2030 cost 122 euros, Bridgestone 175/60 R16 82 H B 250 (Ecopia) cost 82 euros. Two others, a China and Korea made one not worth looking at. These tires are all rated for German sport cars on the Autobahn. So if your over here and have only one check on, use the tire as the second check on. PS the Dunlop 175 60 16 Winter sport comes in a reg and XP, the xp allows extra weight to about 1200lbs rating. I'm using the XP version now.
