2.5 Mile Ride, 2012?

It looks like we are destined to go for the 18th - 20th of May for 2.5 mile ride this year. That's the normal time to have it. That's when the "Good Ol' Boys" have always had it and we like it like that. North Bend/Coos Bay sounds like it should be, the "IR Harry Memorial Ride.

The below is copied from QD's last revelations. We are all set for the motel accommodations.

Here's the scoop . . .

John did a great job of getting us a block of upto 40 rooms at the Red Lion.
The rates are really good, and the more rooms they book for us the better we look, so NO CAMPING

You can now make reservations. I just made mine.

Make reservations with the local number ONLY and say you are with the 2.5 Mile Motorcycle Group.
No reservations for the group rate will be taken with the toll-free line or on-line.

Rates are approximate (I rounded them off for ease of use)
Per night/room with
2 people: $75
3 people: $85
4 people: $95

On Saturday evening there will be a banquet in the hotel. The PGR group will be honoring Harry at the banquet.

It's called the 2.5 mile ride. Happens every 3rd weekend of May, here in Washington area,sometimes includes Oregon/Idaho, just depends. On last years 2.5, we rode around 350 miles on Saturday. We meet somewhere Friday, ride Saturday (350-400 smiles), head home on Sunday.

A few members/friends got together for a ride few years back. As I understand it, Someone said during the ride, hey lets continue to the MT ST. Helens observatory. Another rider asked how far it was. Quickdraw (board member) said it's only 2 1/2 miles. Well something like 30 miles later when they arrived it was raining/snowing and very cold. The 2 1/2 miles kinda became a moniker for the ride. So...... Now it's only 2.5 miles where ever we go!! Always a good time with good people. Come along next year, heck you're only 2.5 miles away from us anyhow!:thumbup:

I wondered when this was going to start

We have talked about doing the 2.5 in SoOr/NoCal and stopping in to see Harry's wife, Carol. She would love that!!!

FSR-33/23 (Galice) is paved all the way to I-5 and 199 will take us through the Redwoods (380 mile loop, er 2.5 miles, from Coos Bay). There are plenty of good roads down there, including one with almost 400 curves in less than 20 miles, without going too far down into NoCal, not that NoCal is bad . . .
