If you've never tried the Baker wings; they might surprise you in their effectiveness. Keep 'em closed in cooler weather and open in the heat.

I have not tried deflectors before but my preference is to minimize what is "hanging off" the bike. So, the option of using something like snap caps will provide me the flexibility of trying the deflectors on trips and covering the hole.

Yes, there is a price consideration as well ... instead of the caps, just use another molding strip (color matched, not chrome) to maintain a clean look on the top / shelter area.

I have a pair thoughs with no holes, maybe work out a trade, bakers / trim?
It would be the trim only. Then you do not have to worry about cracking the plastic, aligning the hole, or splintering the paint. But with the mods you have done to your bike, you can drill the holes; however, it will be just one less thing for you to do for your install. None of the tabs are broken, no cracks - all intact.
