Ok I admit it... I've been looking at the 12's.

The paint does not look as good as USA made bikes
..base color looks "orange peel" and clear does not look as "deep".

Just me?

just sayin', not trying to insult anyone..

I like them... will probably buy one if I can get a good trade in..

The paint quality on the 2012's I saw (3) wasn't even close to the rich, deep luster of my 06, IMHO.

My other bike is a 2011 Toyota Prius. Its made 100% in Japan. The paint in the front on the plastic bumper skin already has a lot of pings in it just in three months and I avoid dump trucks and the like on the freeways. The paint is just like soft ****. maybe its contaminated w/tsunami water or its radio active. No offence to the tsunami victims. Just an observation.

They may have to use a water base paint over there.
Over here we still can use solvent base paint.
You can really see the difference side by side.

Nope, not just you...
The paint, if you look at it at the correct angle,
does look like an "orange peel" or "dimply".
If you take a look at any the new 2012 Honda bikes (not just the Wings),
they sadly all have the "orange peel"/"dimply" look to them :-(

The paint on my red 2001 looks kinda "paid for" to me so I will keep it. LOL

My '07 orange has orange peel (no pun intended). Compared to the matching paint job on my Bushtec, the Honda paint is lousy. The Bushtec was obviously wet sanded and buffed out.

Just another observation. The paint quality on ALL other Honda models seems to be MUCH better than on the Goldwings. Why is that? Look at the paint on a VFR 1200, it is amazing!

Just wondering if they just arent taking the time to buff the paint job out. That deep luster takes a bit more time than a general sand job. Wish I knew how many coats of clear they put on.

NOW ... it makes more sense to me why they
changed to a two tone paint job
(3 actually with the black)
..
.. it is to hide the crummy "color" paint job.

A large expanse of poorly applied color paint is easier to spot
than several smaller pieces "interrupted" by
gray and black trim.
