I will be rewiring the rear-end of the 2012 to get better light management out of what it came with.

As it is now top to bottom:
Trunk Left: Brake on Left Bulb and Running on Right Bulb
Trunk Right: Brake on Right Bulb and Running on Left Bulb

Rear Fender Left: Left Turn Signal
Rear Fender Right: Right Turn Signal
Rear Fender Center: Running on Left and Right Bulb

How its going to be:
Trunk Left: Left Turn/Running on Left Bulb and Brake/Running on Right Bulb
Trunk Right: Right Turn/Running on Right Bulb and Brake/Running on Left Bulb

Rear Fender Left: Left Turn Signal (Red Bulb)
Rear Fender Right: Right Turn Signal (Red Bulb)
Rear Fender Center: Brake/Running on Left and Right Bulb

What does it have to do with me redoing the way the lights are working.

Getting sick and tired of people jumping on others posts and not give any positive feedback or suggestions as it pertain to the original post.

what he said!

People must be really bored to get on a thread, such as this one, and make a stupid comment about why they will not be buying a new wing... Gee, if the lights worked like the OP is making his work, would you run out and buy a new one?

Someones always got to jump in and make negative comments when others are simply either trying to come up with a improvement on thier ride or making helpfull sugestions on things that will improve a great bike.
I would be very interested to know how much work your modification will be, It would be nice if there was a plug and play type set up that would make the changes you plan to do to your ride.

I'm sure that it will provide greater rear visibility. Are you going to work a brake light modulator in there somewhere?

One small suggestion, it would probably sound better to say you are modifiying the lights rather then fixing them, might not rub as many people the wrong way.

WOW, man take it easy, not everyone reworks their bikes.
Some like them the way Honda builds them.

Reworking lights

I kind of agree that he posted a re-work of the 2012 lights, that to me was was informative and useful if I choose to buy a 2012. It serves no purpose to bad mouth his choice of the 2012 and the changes he is making to improve the product. I can't think of a single producet (except duct tape and WD40) that can't be improved with a little work.

The lights on your 03 are terrible. Turn signals in the saddlebags and not on the trunk, you can't see them in the day light, I did the turn signal rewire kit on my 02 that made the outer lights on the trunk turn signals and it really , so you bought an overpriced 03 Gold Wing and haven't fixed the problem yet????

In case you're interested, Lewis at Electrical COnnection is working on a harness than will do what you're talking about.

He said the harness should be available next week. He's just waiting on some bulbs.

If you're on Facebook, look up Electrical Connection. All the new stuff Lewis is working on is being announced on there.

2012 re-wire (rear)

Wow man, sounds like Honda owes you a bunch. Nice work, and thanks my friend! Job well done. Ted

Rear Lights

Your post surprised me. I had an opprtunity to ride my 2012 this Sunday with a bunch of my usual suspects. The first comment I got at the rest stop was about how visible lights are.
I guess I'll get the bride to sit in the pilot seat so that i can make my own determination.

Oh, yea, I agree with your little rant.

Please keep us posted on rewiring result.
