This year six weeks touring from Heidelberg Germany to Reveur Netherlands for Goldwing Treffen. One the way met up with Horizons unlimited Treffen outside of Heidelberg. Then on to the Battlefield of Verdun France, England, Wales, Germany, Austria and Italy Goldwing Treffen.

Treffens cheap place to camp and meet other Goldwing owners from all over Europe. Taking me on local rides and parades, some with Police escort and Paramedics. Both the Reveur Treffen and the Italian Treffen had over 600 wings. The Italian Treffens are the best for entertainment. THese can have music till late hours...so I've been camping or Hoteling it outside the main Treffen camp.. In Italy I stayed about 6km away in a darling little Farm B and B in the quite countryside surrounded by fields of Grapes. Farm road in Italy are very nice indeed.

England, I took the Euro Tunnel for about $120 Euro for the sake of time and as an experience. Very quick to England with the whole process less than 45 minutes. In England I went to the Salisbury Plains area. Magical landscape. Camped for about $12 a night. Same as a hiker or bicyclist. Spartan but I like its to its proximity to Devizes, Cathedrals of Wells and Salisbury and Stonehenge sites. .

Wales: Find a River road and take it...Green, plush, twisty road landscapes. Rooms 50-80 Pounds. Food, Lots of meat pies. Rare fast food, friendly folk. In Wales your working around a small river Valley or twisting on higher hills. If you can see more that 500 feet ahead of you it's flatten out.

Ferries back to Holland takes more time with loading and unloading of large trucks, cars and passengers. So it may take three hours to cross, cost varies with time and day. Pre Booking is cheaper. I found a Hotel a "F1" for 30 euros a night on the other side. There are many Hotels working the low cost Ferry trade. Since I ran all day to get and take the Ferry a cheap hotel works out very nice to refresh and run to Baden Baden Germany the next day on Autobahns.

Baden Baden, Nice roads all around the area B500 being the most well known. Just followed other bikes to find a good run.

German backroads, if you got the time they can be rewarding motorcycle roads, I went from Munich along the Romantic road to Rothenburg then to Marburg. Much of the Romantic Road is bypassed by tour buses that go from site to site. I found a great many motorcycle friendly Hotels and used them. Low cost and bikes protected. tourenfahrer-hotels.de/home is the one I used the most. Use GPS coordinates.

Italy, I stayed at a "agriturismo" B and B. agriturismo.it/en/ and loved it. Price was low and no need to lock things up in someone's remote farm.

Bike Storage in Heidelberg. Still a good way to ship and travel with your own bike.
