My 2016 was new out of the crate when I bought it last Fall. I never liked the way the brakes felt. Kinda grabby at times so I'm going to put new pads on eventhough I have 1900 miles.

For my 08 my brake pad choice was EBC pads. How are they on the 2nd gen models? What is the go to pad for you guys when you need brake pads?

The "go to pads" are OEM. Before replacing what you have, have you tried cleaning the rotors and pads with BrakeClean - red can ??? Unless you do, you might replace the pads and find you have the same issue.

I always scuff the rotors when putting new pads on but I haven't thought about doing that to the existing pads and the rotors. It's worth a try. If it doesn't make a difference then I'll replace the pads.
