August 2nd, 2023, previously ordered & then installed the “MUTH MIRRORS” Blue tint with Amber Chevron turn indicators. They do bring extra safety for drivers to the rear, knowing my intentions when turning in front of them. I may go back to adjust the wiring, as the Kurry “Y” splitter and the MUTH wiring made for a tight fit in the small compartment below the front cowl area beyond the mirrors. **MUTH MIRRORS carry a *three-year or 36,000-mile warranty against defects of the “LEDs”! Effective until July 27th, 2026!
November 30th, 2023
I installed the Show Chrome “Tridium DRL-Fog-Turn Signals.” I did have an electrical connection issue on the Fog lights due to defective (BLUE Connectors at the Fog lights connecting points). I learned that it is a defective issue, as noted by some reviews from previous customers. Initially, I tried using wiring tape to hold the two connection points together to complete the circuit (Failed!)
I have attempted to get a response from Wingstuff customer service concerning having failed components replaced [wire lead from turn signals to Fog-running lights & defective Fog-DLR Light Switch. I have not received any response from Wingstuff after two emails on their website. I also mailed a letter via USPS. I will post on the Wingstuff website on
GL1800RIDERS about this dilemma of no response from Wingstuff!
***I found a solution by using small zip ties to hold the two male/female connections together to complete the circuit. I then sealed it with wiring tape. It was after several tests of the operation of the Fog lights that I secured the wiring leading down from the “Turn Signals” connections and ran the Fog lights leads down in the front fairing cowl to the Fog lights located in the lower cowl. Before closing up everything, I again checked the operation of the Fog-DRL-Turn signals, and all worked!
*** I installed the power provided by the PDM60 Isolator in the left front pocket (Show Chrome-USB Dual Charger 2.5v X2 charging ports)!
*** I installed another Dual USB Charger/Battery Voltage monitor into the rear Tour Trunk powered via the PDM60 Isolator.
*** The next installation will be the Show Chrome “Left side Accessory USB Power Switch.” (It's installed and working!)

(9) MADSTAD Windshield purchased October 23rd, 2023
Toni or Blair 0830-1630 for pick up & payment for a 14” MADSTAD windshield.
On October 27th, 2023, I installed the 14” MADSTAD, which was too high in height at the lowest position. I called and spoke with Blair and explained the issue, and he said they would exchange it, which is not a problem.
November 1st, 2023, I drove back to MADSTAD to return the 14” shield for the 12” that had already been made for me. Upon comparing the new shield and placing it next to the 14”, the new shield was actually another 14” shield! Blair apologized for the error. He said he would get the 12” sent to me the following day, November 2, 2023, via UPS. I received the UPS tracking number, and the new 12” shield was delivered to me on November 3rd, 2023! It was the correct size! The fit was spot on, and I’m looking forward to seeing if all the hype is true about MADSTAD!
(10) I installed the 12” MADSTAD on November 4th, 2023, without incident, and I can now easily see above the windshield!
I will take it out and note the various angles to provide my comfort zone on the Highway at speed. To be continued
**Test rides on local roads and adjustments: I have not had any long rides at higher speeds for any length of time (all urban roads). But right now, from 30mph up to 60-70 mph, I have just smooth airflow in the rider and no buffeting of the helmet! Happy so far. The position of the air wings also changes the various airflows, which help regulate or fine-tune the airflow on and around the rider.
(11) On November 5, 2023, the Carpuride W502 Apple Car Play was ordered and is awaiting delivery for installation: Carpuride W502 Wireless Portable Dual Bluetooth Waterproof IP67 Motorcycle Stereo. This will enable Apple Car Play functions on the 2017 GL1832 via headphones or the onboard Electrical connection Bluetooth to allow feedback through the bike speakers! (An Update and review will follow installation.) (See 11 & 15 below for additional information.)
(12) 11/5/2023 I purchased Carpuride W502 via their website. This unit allows you to have CarPlay on the 2017 GL1832 while your phone is stored away from the elements! (This allows the iPhone CarPlay to be mirrored onto the Carpuride screen! Great! Apple CarPlay is now on the 2017 GL1832! Sweet! (I will update and review it after receiving and installing it on the GL1832.) R/R with the Carpuride 702pro 7” screen.
(13) The UTOPIA Backrest was ordered and installed from November 14 to 2023, and I’m looking forward to having lower midback support! I had one on the 2012 GL1832 and loved it! (I will update the review once I have some miles with Utopia!) LOVE IT!!!

(15) Apple Car Play Carpuride W502 installed 11/21/2023. I wired the W503 into the left cubby compartment area with an open existing hot (+) lead via wiretap and grounded (-) on the same lead. The W503 has an in-line 3amp fuse, so I did not need to run wiring down to the battery or to the PDM60 Isolator.
A Bluetooth connection was established with the iPhone, and I customized the ACP=Apple Car Playlist to my preferences. The GPS did not coordinate with the active iPhone Google Maps or Apple maps relating to E-W-S-N. I will update once I can do an actual test ride to see if the coordination of the location mode of travel displays the same as the iPhone mapping source. (I am still trying to figure out if I can tie the W503 into the GW speakers, yet it appears it is designed to connect via BT to the Helmet (according to the instruction material enclosed), which I have not attempted to test yet.
I will update you soon once I get the trial ride of the W503. The purchase was to keep the iPhone out of the weather, particularly the summer sun, which causes heat-related issues by reducing the screen brightness and, at times, disabling the iPhone to protect itself from heat damage.
I now have the option of storing the iPhone on my person, the left front cubby unsecured, the center lockable storage compartment, and the rear Tour Trunk, which I wired with a 3.5 & 2.5 USB charger/voltmeter, which was installed on 11/21/2023. (It is wired into the " PDM60 Power Distribution Module. ") **I can get Audio via the GW speakers once I BT the Carpuride W502 to the Electrical Connection! Good News!
Update**11-28-2023 I tried out the built-in EQ “Rock Mode,” and it sounds way better than the 2018 GW! Hearing the sound from the 2017 GW knocked my socks off! Love this CarpuRide W502!!! SEE BELOW for the purchase of the Carpuride 702pro installed to replace the W502.
(16) November 25, 2023: I installed the Show Chrome Tridium DRL-Fog-Turn Signal kit. The installation was lengthy, about 7 hours, taking my time and requiring me to readapt the disassembly of the plastic for some 5 years since I did on my 2012 GL1832. The Cruise Man DIY video was a great reference. Another issue was fishing the wire leads from the “Turn Signals on R & L” down within tight crevices from the mirrors down to the area of the FOG light connections. ☹!
I took all the front cowling off the front, the windshield, and its components to find an easier access point. I used the 3’ zip tie on the respective R & L mirrors to fish the Fog Lights cables and connect to both Fog lights! 😉
The connections (Blue) were not making the clasp lock as they should. I finally got the R side to lock, but the L never did (I will tape the Blue Connectors @ the Fog lights so they don’t disconnect!) I reconnected the (-) on the battery to test the connections and functions of the fog lights. All was working as they should (DRL-Amber Turn signals R & L)-Retina fryers Fog lights! I used the “Jumper” so the Fog lights will remain “ON” even when the “Bright lights function is active on the GW.” I will complete getting everything buttoned up tomorrow!
Problem with the Tridium fog light installation see the following;
Thanks for the reply! I am about to have my Tridium Fog-DRL-Turn signal kit finished up. It appears Show Chrome has already installed the "resistors" on the latest version of their Tridium Fog light kits. As new to me, 2017 GW has all incandescent lamps. I am not experiencing any issues with all functions of the Fog lights LEDs and the incandescent lamps. Yippy!
What was a pain in the Kester was intermittent LEDs working when they desired. I had to go back & forth to figure out the problem.
It turns out that the connectors from the main wiring from the mirrors down to the fog lights were the problem. The connectors on each of the plugs in the fog light were defective. I could never get the male & female clips to lock onto each other. It appears that they were just a smidge too long to allow a flush fit of the opposing connections.
Initially, I tried taping them with wiring tape in hopes it was enough to hold them together, but that didn't work! So, I decided to trim a small amount of the end of each connector so that it would allow a secure contact and allow the lock to secure the connection. That did the trick or so I thought but being that the plastic lock on the tab was so thin and flimsy, it was easy to separate them, the result was lights that worked when they wanted to!
**Update January 6, 2024: the main fog lights will not stay on; the only way they would activate is if I pressed very firmly on the Fog Light switch! The running and turn signal lights worked properly. I ordered a replacement “Fog Light Switch” from SoCal in hopes this will correct the issue with the crappy Show Chrome fog light switch! I will update once I R/R the Show Chrome fog light switch. Paying the kind of money for the Show Chrome lights “Tridium” and having to replace a Switch is a bummer! I will contact Show Chrome and ask for a replacement switch. If they want me to send the defective one, I will have it available because I will already have R/R the Show Chrome with the SoCal switch! Update to follow!
My Fix
So, I used a zip tie to wrap around the vertical axis of both the right and left connectors to hold them together. This appears to have solved the issue. I sure don't want to deal with a loose connection issue and disassemble it to deal with this again! If I have a reoccurring issue, I will cut the wires and soldier them together.
If I hear anyone having this issue on the forum with the Tridium fog lights with intermittent LED, I pass my fix on to them. I have a sneaking suspicion I will not be the only one who purchased the Black Friday sale on the Tridiums that got the bad batch of connectors on the fog light connecting points. I have way too many hours wasted getting the Fog lights operational, running down the issue, and fixing it. Oh well, I am happy with the outcome,, and these are some great Fog-DRL-Turn signals once I got them working correctly! Buttoned the GW up & no issues with the fog lights! 11-28-2023
[[UPDATE]] I installed the Socal Fog-DRL switch.
January 10th, 2024, I installed the Socal Fog Light switch to replace the Show Chrome Fog-DLR switch. It was defective as you had to press and hold the switch down for the DLR to activate; otherwise, the DLR would cut off when you released the switch. The Socal switch worked, but I had to use a wire tie to keep the connector between the switch and the power lead from the left cubby pocket wiring. At this moment, the Fog-DRL is working normally! 😊
**Show the Chrome 12v USB accessory for the left cubby pocket-storage area. It is currently being shipped, and I will update you after installation.
Update RE: Show Chrome 12v USB Accessory Charger 11-28-2023 was delivered. After looking over the packaging, I noticed that these were for the 2018 and up GWs. But they will fit into the 2017 Cuddy left side without issue. I drilled the 1-1/4” hole that was factory molded for the cutout to accept 12v accessory.
I installed the charger but have not wired it into the electrical system yet. I will have to route the power leads to the PDM60 later. I tied up the buttoning of the GW backup after the installation of the Tridium fog lights!
(17) Knob Key Project Order Number: 925807081-LOWES Clwtr
I ordered 2-Key Blanks “Axxess 27R B Cassettes +” Lowes 11-28-2023. I will make two Knob keys for Fuel Door & Glove Box.
I also ordered 2- Knobs of Black Rubber “Honda 35601-MCA-A8”1 from Parts-Zilla for making the Knob-Keys. (Update on completion of the installation)
In-Store Pick-Up Lowes Clearwater Store.
The above keys were cut down for the Honda Black radio knobs, and a small slot was cut off from each knob so the keys could be inserted and glued! I used the JB Weld plastic epoxy. It worked very well and provided a solid medium for attaching the keys to the radio knobs, which will be used on the Fuel access door and the Center cubby. This will allow me not to have to remove the ignition key to open the fuel and center cuddy when I need to have access to them. When leaving the GW, I can remove the two Radio knobs and secure them in the center cubby or the rear tour trunk.

(18) Honda Rear Spoiler OEM Pearl White installed October 13th, 2024, purchased from Cycle Max. The following additional accessories were installed with the rear Spoiler:
The new “Carpuride 702pro” was mounted in the center of the Madstad mounting base shield and secured with security mounting bolts and security Ram-type mounts requiring a Security Key to remove/reinstall them. The large real estate of the screen was a nice improvement for these old eyes! Once I figured out how to use Bluetooth and sync the iPhone, it worked flawlessly. Once I turn the key on, it initiates start-up, and “Apple Car Play” is up and running. I have hundreds of songs stored with various Genres of Artists at my fingertips on the “Apple Music App”.
(20) November 28th – 30th, 2024, Upgraded the OEM H3 Lo Beam Headlight Bulbs to “Pathfinder SoCal” LEDs." I purchased SoCal from the Pathfinder-SoCal web store. The installation was rated a (3) out of (5) scale of difficulty due to the tight areas which you must work on the front interior fairing area on the left & right sides of the fairing.
I was so impressed with the bright white image the LEDs provided compared to the OEM H3 Halogen bulbs' (brown/yellow) appearance. In fact, I liked them so much that I decided to purchase a second set of SoCal LEDs to replace the OEM Hi-Beam H3 Halogen with LEDs! These were purchased from Moto Tour (Pinellas Park-FL) as Pathfinder SoCal did not have any available. The installation is rated a (5) of (5) of difficulty.
This was due to the removal of the pockets Right and left, and the upper high beam mounting locations were very tight and cramped in the upward recesses of the fairing above the Lo beams! The ballast was secured in the small open areas on the right and left pockets of the interior fairing plastics.
*Despite the difficulty of this installation, it was again well worth the safety of nice crisp white bright headlights of Hi & Lo beams! The low points of this installation of the Hi beam LEDs, as noted, (1) were removing the top right and left shelter pockets, (2) the foot warmer controller adjuster component, the Plastic around the ignition key, and dislodging the left plastic panel of the inner fairing to gain access from the front section of the wheel area, rearranging the electrical wiring within those spaces.
It’s no wonder “Pathfinder SoCal” recommends that a professional technician install the Hi-Beam LEDs. But if you are mechanically inclined and have patience, you can handle this installation. Ask me how I know. 😊

(14) Honda 2012-2017 Service Manual with Electronic Trouble Shooting Manual Attached.
Delivered: via FedEx on August 6, 2023

Problem with the Tridium fog light installation see the following;

- Pathfinder SoCal Running Lights (rear) Sequential Turn Signals-Brake light Rapid Flash-Four Way function LEDs.
(21) Gold Strike Cup Holder (rider) see bulleted additional accessories added:
- USB Charger with Voltage meter (Trunk)
- Kuryakyn Rear Saddle Bag Strip Red-LEDs (running lights)
- Kuryakyn Rear Fender Tip Red-LEDs
- Show Chrome Turn Down Exhaust Tips
- Utopia Back Rest (Rider)
- Ram Phone Mount (Rider)
- Baker Wind-Wings (Lower side R & L Fairings)
- Baker Wind Wings (Under R & L Mirrors)
- Muth Mirrors/Blue Tint (Amber Chevron Turn indicators)
- Front Brake Black Caliper Brake Covers (eBay) added white LEDs in the Ring.
- Madstad Windshields 12” Smoke and 14” Smoke were sent but were not the 12” Madstad I ordered. Madstad then sent the correct size, ordered a 12” Smoke, and advised me to keep the 14” smoke shield; no return was needed. I purchased Madstad from their Brooksville, FL, business/production location. Fantastic shield!
- Turns Signal Lens Covers-Smoked: Installed eBay/aka Flea Bay (DRL-white/Turn signals amber), which replaced the Cycle Max DRLs/Turn Amber LEDs due to better clarity color presentation. eBay was cheaper, too, and performed better.
- Fanttik Air compressor purchased the Clip On “Air Chuck,” which is easier to attach to the Valve stems than the screw on “Fanttik Air Chuck.”
- “Show Chrome Switch Block Illuminated LEDs (3) control switches.” The Brake reservoir mount has yet to be installed.
- FOBO TPMS (a great add-on that works as described but has great liability so far!)
- Big Bike Parts/WingStuff purchases a Black Stainless Steel “Belly Pan.” This item will provide some peace of mind by protecting the underside of the engine (oil filter, antifreeze Reservoir, engine case). Installed 12-5-2024
- Trunk Handle with Lamp/LEDs (Black) eBay aka Flea Bay Installed 12-10-2024; it came with no instructions, just the Hardware & the Metal Handle (appears to be solid quality); time will tell the real deal.) Yes, that is common with eBay purchases for most parts for the GWs. The M5 Screws with 3mm Allan head were way too long for the application (M5 was about 1 ½” long, which I cut down and ground to 3/8” or ½” don’t recall at this writing. Nonetheless, they worked just fine with securing the Handle to the trunk. I will have to update with the complete installation and electrical wiring that will need to be spliced into the Honda OEM wiring for running & brake lights. (*Maybe no brake lights are yet to be determined.)
- FARKLE: I purchased the LSC4X ADVANT Modular Helmet (Pearl White) from Amazon. I also bought and installed the Cardo X4 BT communicator. What was a great selling point is that LSC throws in with the helmet sell are the following items: (1) Dark Smoke shield, (2) Pinlock anti-fog shield, (3) LSC Advant backpack, (4) LSC Advant helmet bag. This Helmet will be used primarily on the Pearl White 2017 GoldWing. I washed the helmet with Dawn dishwashing soap and rinsed it with a damp microfiber towel. Adams ceramic graphene solution made an already stellar White Pearl paint POP even more so! I have yet to BT pair it to my iPhone and download any software upgrades if any are available. Also, I plan on incorporating it with the Carpuride 702 Pro in the Apple Carplay application. The Large seems a little tight around the temples; I hope it will break in to allow a comfortable fit. *I will update you once I get it paired with the Carpuride 702 Pro and the CSC Encore to take advantage of the 40 mm JBL Speakers. You know it's all about the sound.
