GOLD WING NAVIGATION/SOFTWARE JANUARY 2019 UPDATE

https://powersports.honda.com/goldwingupdate.aspx

Keeping your Gold Wing’s navigation system updated with the latest maps and directions helps you get the most out of one of your bike’s most useful features. This latest version, designed for 2018 and newer Gold Wings, offers the following improvements:

Add up to 99 waypoints per route
Increased XM source hold in low-signal areas
Improved iPhone X compatibility
We’ll walk you through the installation, step by step. It’s easy to do, but if you run into any difficulties you can always contact your Honda dealer. Ready to get started? Let’s go.

Want to know if you already have the latest version? Just click here.

If you have a 2017 or older Gold Wing, while this update is not compatible, you can see more information on your bike’s system here .

99 waypoints. Not great but MUCH better than before. Silence the naysayers. ;)

I'm a brand new owner of a 2019 Tour DCT. I am doing the upgrade per instructions above and then need to restart integration of my equipment to the bike. I previously read instructions but didn't bookmark and need help. I have an iPhone 10x, Cardo packtalk communicator and want to use apple play. Please give me specific and sequential instructions to make the system work. I have other bikes too in which I use phone to cardo for music, phone, etc. The salespeople are significantly less knowledgable than I am and that is not saying much. Thanks!!! Gary

Look at the Audio section of the owners manual and the separate Navigation manual. They are well written.

I think 99 waypoints will be fine for the trips I usually take.
Presumably it will still be possible to load 15 routes to the bike.

And of course as many as desired on an USB, that will probably also have room for as much music as desired.

I downloaded the update and did the formatting the Mac way. Haven't tried to do the update on the bike yet, but I'll do that in the morning. So if there's a problem with the bike reading the Mac OS Extended format, I'll just have to go back to doing it with a NTFS partition formatted via Tuxera (worked before).

Update: Using Mac OS Extended as the USB drive format worked perfectly. Still had to do the re-pairing with the BT headset and other stuff, but no issues with Mac support for this update.

Unless you want the extra permissible points in a route.

And if you didn't do the update in the fall, you're still loosing the guidance audio when you restart the bike to continue after a stop.

does this update include the other updates rolled up in this update as well (I skipped the second - CB - one)?

A new problem putting favorites back. I exported them to a thumb drive along with a few routes. The routes saved using the names I gave to them but the favorites all saved with some kind of number sequence that looks like tomorrow's date plus a series like this 20190125_041352.gpx. When I imported them back in again after doing the update the system gave them new names made up of the street and town. All of them were initially named properly so that isn't it. It also seems to have made a couple of favorites of its own that look like they might have been waypoints on a route. I went back and renamed the ones I could identify and deleted the rest. Is anybody else having trouble putting favorites back? Otherwise the update went without incident. Oh yea, the update deletes all your Bluetooth settings as well including the phone and headsets which they didn't warn about in advance. Not a biggie though. Actually I think it might have done that after the first update as well but I don't quite remember.

Every update so far has deleted the Bluetooth pairings.

How long did the update take on the bike? I know always say up to an hour but I think my last update finished in under 20 minutes?

I am wondering if this fixes the CB problem the first update had. I never did the 1st update either.
I sure hope so. One would think that would be a priority, but I saw a few times with Harley that sometimes the update caused more or different issues with some people's bikes.

I'm excited to try this update, now if the weather in Minneapolis would cooperate. The next few days are to be cold, with the high early next week forecasted to be minus 3. It's going to be a long winter.

The weather in Minneapolis is probably not going to cooperate for the next three months. :frown2:
