It’s nearing time for the brave Kansas motorcycle riders to take a ride to Paradise, Kansas for a great meal.

The Paradise United Methodist Women Bazaar & Turkey Dinner will be held on opening day of Pheasant
season as it usually is. (November 14, 2015)

Everything is the same as last year, the bazaar opens at 10:30 a.m. and serving for the dinner begins at 10:45. Cost for the meal is $9 for adults and $5 for children in kindergarten through fourth grade.

This event was started in 1950 to raise money for a new Methodist church. The bazaar and dinner is the church's only fundraiser.
Up to 400 people attend the bazaar and dinner every year. The permanent Paradise population is 42.

I’m planning
on leaving Lawrence at 7AM (757 40 Hwy, Lawrence, KS)
My route will be US-40 west to K-4
north on K-4 to US-24
west on US-24 to NE Rochester Road
We will stop at the Dillons
store
for fuel (ETA 7:30)
We will continue west on US-24 to US-75
south on US-75 to I-70
I-70 west to K-18 (Junction City) (ETA 8:45)
We will stop at the Sapp Brothers truck stop at US-77 and I-70 for fuel and coffee.
We will
ride
west on K-18 to Paradise. (ETA 11:00)
Come ride along and enjoy some really good
home
cooked food.

Come on along and have a great day of riding.

I promise that I will take you to Paradise again!

Brenda and I will meet the gang in JC
What's the meeting spot in Lawrence?
They normally meet at the Air Duct cleaning place west of Lawrence where Stull Rd meets US 40 Hiway. I don't know the address. Go west of town on 6th street and it can't be more than 3 miles on the south side of the road. Only business on that side of the hiway. Just after you pass the church on the north side of the hiway
757 Hwy 40, Lawrence, KS

Is where we will take off from.

(Sorry about the slow reply. I was out of town all wekend)
There is a facebook page for "Paradise United Methodist Church" and it has the flyer for the dinner on it.

I have been informed that I have the wrong price listed for the meal. I think that we payed $10 each last year.

We will have our reserved parking this year. :clap2:
I am going to try and make this again. MightyMax, we might have to hook up and go.

It would be my honor
Mighty Max I'm guessing here since he only lives a few minutes south of you according to your profile, but grab Don Manhart and drag him along. I can't remember his screen name on here

My schedule has has not been good for organized rides this summer / fall. I'm involved in that dreaded 4-letter word - work - next weekend. Eat some extra for me and have a great ride.
See you tomorrow morning at 7:00. I will be the guy on the Goldwing.

Marvman
All aboard for Paradise!

Looks like it's going to be a GREAT day for riding!
The price for the meal is going to be $12. Hope that isn't a deal breaker for anyone.:joke:

This year the event has been moved across the street, I sure hope that I can find it.

We'll see you at 7 Marvman.

We will be on channel 1 on the CB's
It won't be hard to tell us from the rest of the crowd.
I'll be leading on an 2002 orange1800 and Sandy will be the tail-gunner on her 2003 yellow trike.
Let's ride!

Wish I could have made it guys, but after everyone else around here backed out, thought it best to stay home and help clean house as we got family coming in tomorrow. Hope you all had a great ride!!

Here is the ride report for November 14, 2015

We had another great ride to Paradise for another great meal.

Sandy and I left home just before 7 riding a half mile to meet up with Marvman. The next stop was in Topeka where we meet another two couples on their trikes. As we headed west the familiar call out, “It’s a BEAUTIFUL day for a ride” rang out on the CB radio. With a quick run out on the big road we found one more couple in Junction City. It was 2 lane roads for the rest of the ride to Paradise. We have become friends with the right people because we had reserved parking.

For the 6th year we enjoyed another fantastic home cooked meal. When we finished eating we waddled back to our GoldWings and discovered that our machines had found a new friend. Unfortunately, we didn’t meet whoever had parked their white trike with them. On the way home we got about 20 miles and had to stop in Lucas and visited the commode commode. Here several of us are sitting on the seat.

We haven’t checked out the Garden of Eden for several years so we rode the few blocks there to check it out.

We stayed on the 2 lane roads back to JC where the riders began to peel off as we got near their homes.

There were still 4 Gold Wings when we passed a small car that had, of all things, a small horse in the back seat. You just never know what you’ll see in Kansas.

I did some research after I got home and found out that the horse is named Rascal and belongs to a couple from Pomona, Ks.

We got back home just as the sun was setting.

What a wonderful treat having a nice warm day to enjoy our friends riding our motorcycles.

If you didn’t make it this year, I hope that you will be able to join us next time.

Thanks to everyone that made this a perfect day in Paradise!
