I know this is a Goldwing forum, but I gotta brag on my oldest son.
He builds drag bike motors, both turbo and nitro .
We went to the test and tune tonight to watch him test ride his latest build. It started as a kx 1000 I think, I don't know what it is now, but the hp is around 350 or 375, I can't remember what he said exactly.
Any way, his best of 4 passes tonight was 8.134 @ 166 mph! !!
That's a 1/4 mile time.

His momma was proud, but nearly in tears worrying about him.

Think about that. 166 MPH in just over 8 seconds. Count to 8. You are doing 166 on two wheels. Incredible.4: And, no thanks. That is way too fast for me. On two or four wheels. Just not a dare devil I guess. And to think the young man built the motor. Pretty cool.:congrats:

That is really great. Probably a variation of the KZ1000 Kawasaki engine. Takes some real skill in both build and rider to get times like that.

He was repairing lawn mowers and mowing yards in the neighborhood when he was 10.
His first bike was a Honda 80 dirt bike, and he hasn't been without a bike of some sort since then.
He also raced quads flat track for a few years.
I can do routine maintenance and change most parts if someone tells me what part is bad, but that's about it.
This boy (29 yr old) is a genius when it comes to internal combustion. Fabricates all his own exhaust and plumbing for the turbos as well.
He starts his new job at American Airlines Here in Tulsa Monday morning.
God help us if he figures out a way to put a jet engine on 2 wheels !!!!


Did I mention how proud of him we are ?!?!

The bike last night was a 1441cc Hayabusa.
Stupid fast though.

Before I could get mama to go watch he had to show her he had the very best of all the required safety gear.
We were still nervous for him though.

I suggest you let him modify your Goldwing ! It is supposed to do 12 second quarter mile out of the box. He may get some interest from old Goldie speed demons on this site if he can only cut 4 measly second off your wings time !

Just curious if American Airlines is aware of his abilities to tweek things to make them go fast? Next thing you'll see in the headlines where American Airlines sets coast-to-coast speed record for MD-80 :surprise:
