I normally play MP3s on my Zumo, but I bought one of those DMC MP3 players that connect to the CD input on the wing for a backup.

I noticed it introduced a lot of alternator whine and noise. It wasn't too bad, but if the song volume was low, it was irritating. I have a ground loop isolator on my aux circuit for the Zumo, so I thought I'd add one to the MP3 player to see if it helped. It works well!

I bought the isolator off eBay for $7.69 with free shipping. Sorry Hal, I am not paying $29.95 or $79.99 for the EC or J&M versions respectively.

GLI for GPS alternator whine

I added a Zumo 550 GPS and ever since I broght in the plug in for the audio i get a whine that increases with power.

I've never understood the GLI but after reading your post it seems you add them to individual items. If so, can you advise me where to fiind one, and how I should add/install it to my gps audio line?

Thanks,

John
