Taking a trip this August to Fairbanks Alaska via the ferry at Prince Rupert, BC and then driving back to San Jose, Ca via the Alaska Highway. Did it 25 years ago on a Triumph 750 triple and rode 1500 miles on gravel.
I know its been paved pretty well but was wondering if any of you have done it recently and could give me any info on conditions during July and August.

Thanks.

Be prepared for a lot of RV's on the road (with 80-year-old drivers); frequent construction zones; and, this year, very high gas prices along the AlCan. It will be a much smoother trip than your last one. Have fun, but watch out for the four-legged wildlife on the road.

Last time I drove the Alcan was in August '92. It rained every day from Bellingham Washington to Whitehorse BC. Had the bike transported back. Bring your Frog Togs. Yes, I still had a great time, just wet! The road was paved all the way except for a few (very muddy) construction areas. BTW, I lived in Fairbanks for 4 years.
