I sent my first I-Way 500 back to Lowrance because it was re-booting itself at random and it had bubbles in the screen. They were very good about replacing it with a "new" unit.

After about 2 hours of operation the new unit started cycling through the directional mode arrows and 3D mode. Kept getting faster and faster until the display was just a blur it was changing so fast. Just returned from a 2000 mile trip and it continued to do it randomly. Sometimes within a few minutes of power up, sometimes within 1 or 2 hours. The membrane over the actual screen is also puffed out over an 1/8 of an inch in the center as if it is pressurized. My first I-Way did not have a puffy screen. The routing capability is also not very efficient. It added about a 200 miles unnecessary miles to my trip. It would also give me directions to turn when I knew full well it was wrong. I would ignore the turn instructions and then it would regenerate the route with the correct turn info. Doesn't work well enough in my opinion to preclude the use of maps to verify the GPS routing. Sounds like another call to Lowrance is in order. Think I will also buy the extended warranty as I don't envision much hope of having an I-Way that will operate trouble free for another couple years.
