To the best of my recollection, you have the first parts of the wiring correct.
To your second parts, what I did when installing the compressor on my son's trailer was simply splice the wires feeding power to the compressor and the receiver to the wire providing power to the light in the trailer. And likewise spliced the grounds needed for the compressor to the ground running to the light. The power to the light is already a separate "accessory" power feed to the trailer that seems to work just fine for the compressor also. No need to run another wire, you already have one.
