I'm a VTX guy but i am thinking about coming over to the Goldwing side of the house. my wife and 9 year old daughter have started riding with me and they are both pushing for a goldwing. i would like to find a used bike with ABS. From what i have read the bike was redesigned in 01 so i figure i want nothing older than an 02 or 03. my question is, what is resonable mileage on a goldwing per year. there seems to be a big variation in mileage on used bikes.

That is also going to depend on the type of riding as well. I have a 2005 that I bought in October 2005, it just rolled over to 19,000 miles. I have heard of, but never seen, several with over 200,000 miles. I ride back and forth to work everyday that is a 100 miles round trip. There are also those unlucky guys who can only ride on the weekends, so their miles may be lower. IMHO a 02 - 03 with 30,000 to 50,000 miles, well cared for and priced right would be what I would look for. Good luck with the new ride.
