I have a 2003 GW that I ride every day. Last night after I made a few stops and at my last stop the bike would not re-start. I got a jump from a car and it started right up. I rode it home (about 20 minutes) without any problems. It would not start again. I'm assuming that the original battery is only good for 3 years and plan on buying a new battery today. Is there anything else I should check like the charging system? If so how is this done?

Motorcycle batteries are at best unpredictable. I suspect it would be the battery since it is an '03, but before you run out and get one check the fuse to the cruise control. I have read that if the fuse blows, the battery will not charge.

Good luck....

Prior to installing the new battery, be sure to activate and energize to 100%.

Most battery installers will just dump in the electrolyte and install the battery. Not the correct procedure.

I know some dealers do the procedure correctly but not all!
