Bell Pit Boss Adjustable Helmet

1191 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  juhjohnson
I just ordered one of these Bell Pit Boss helmets. It is a half helmet, but it comes down in the back of the head to help it stay in place at speed and in an accident. It also has an adjustment wheel in the back. THAT is what I was looking for! I'm hoping I can find a helmet that fits me well and is easy to wear. Because of a neck injury, I'm looking for something light on my head and easy to put on and take off.

Anyone else tried one of these?

It's looks nice and I like the adjustable feature...I've used this type of helmet with my cruiser...things I don't like about this type of helmet is they are very noisy because the air rushes over the chin strap next to the ears...very noisy...the zip in liner greatly reduces the wind noise and makes it more comfortable for me....another issue I have more and more with this type of helmet...and my 3/4 helmet..... is there is no face protection...most likely in a crash your face is going to make contact with the road ....a fact that I can't seem to get out of my mind while riding these days while riding my cruiser with this half type helmet and while riding my Gold Wing with a 3/4 helmet....but we all accept the risks when we ride without the better protective gear.
I have one. Not bad at all for a half. The adjuster works well as does the visor. It's DOT but doesn't have the mushroom head look many DOT halfs have. They may run slightly small....I always wear a med and need the adjuster to max to fit. I still use my 3/4 helmet most often to help avoid traffic noise.

I have the flat black one and it shows the dirt and fingerprints more than the others. No big deal.

The wheel in the back is awesome. You can loosen it after riding a while when it feels tight... and then tighten it when you want to keep it level during "higher" speeds :)

As mentioned the liner does make a large difference in wind noise. I use the sun shade quite a bit and it fits over my glasses. No distortion so far and I've had the helmet two years.
