You need to gas up when ever you can and don't forget to ride RR.170 from Lajitas to Presidio. Then back north to Marfa. Check for road conditions before you go, sometimes lots of road construction.
We usually try to eat breakfast (1st choice) or lunch in Presidio at:
El Patio Restaurant It's on the main drag down town (great food and service.
Have done the Big Bend ride the last 5 springs. Last two years we've had 11 bikes ride down from DFW. The loop around the McDonald Observatory is a great ride also.
I've ridden through Presidio for the last 5 years.
The main roads are fine (we have never ridden on any dirt roads, I'm sure the side streets are dirt). We have gotten gas there in town at two different gas stations and eaten at the family owned El Patio restaurant every year (clean, good service and quality food).
Pick-up an issue of "Ride Texas" magazine, now. Well mine just arrived in the mail. The March issue is out with the top 10 and it covers the Big Bend area.
