I've been looking for info on replacing the intake vent and found out that it it's fairing removal time and nothing good to say about it. Insurance says they'll pay 1.7hr to replace. But, sounds like it would just be a bit longer than that even at dealer. Anyone know book time?

That is what I see too. That is Honda time. Customer pay is Honda time times a multiplier of either 1.5 or 1.6 depending on the shop. So a shop that charges $100/hr would calculate that at 1.7 * 1.5 * 100 = $255.

What you have to remember with book times for most motorcycle parts is that the time listed is the time for that part.....
A general example... a book time to replace a set of handlebars may be 3 tenths of an hour, then you would have to add to remove and install the grips, resivoirs, mirrors,,, etc..
Say on a wing,, you had to replace the rear frame section... you would then need to add time to r&i the bags, trunk, etc...
most motorcycle manuals are written with the core time for that part
