Bump?

Whne you bump a post it moves it back to the top of the list, if one has not been replied to in a while it moves it back into the mix, sometimes referred to as ttt, or to the top.

see a lot in the "for sale" section....as stated before, it moves the post back to the top of the board without really saying anything or changing anything...

What happens if you type the word bump multiple times??

Does the message keep returning to the top, for the same number of 'bump' entries??!!!!!

Sure it does, it just happens so fast that you only see it once though

Hmmm. I don't think the "bump" thing works, as designed, as the posting I saw with it is still buried down in the for sale listings. Plus, the latest posting to this did not move to the top, either.

The "bump" effect will work when someone first logs on or when they click the "New Posts" button on the top of the screen.

If you are logged on and someone "bumps" a post, it will not go to the top until you log on again, or click on the new posts button.

As was mentioned, it is most frequently used when someone has something for sale and the seller wants to move the post back to the top of the new post listing so more will see the post.

It works. After you post to a thread, you might need to hit the refresh key on your browser to see the effect of it moving to the top. If you hit the "back" key you will be looking a snapshot of the older posting.:roll:
