Hey folks, I'm planning on attending the C.O.P.S ride this Sunday.

http://www.mdcops.org/copsride/copsride.htm

This issue I'm having is deciding where to start from. I want to have a decent ride and worried about how close Battley and HD of Frederick is. They are both only about 20-30 miles away. Do they take all back roads to get to the Howard County Fairgrounds? I know the money per rider is sort of like a donation for a good cause, but the reality is that I will be spending 50 bucks. I really don't want to spend 50 bucks for a 30 minute ride. At the same time I really don't want to wake up at 6am to get someplace like on the Eastern Shore just to have a good ride.

Has anyone done this ride before from either Battley or HD of Frederick?

If you are interested in a "ride" than you will be disappointed. It is an escorted, ie. slow, ride to the ending destination. These rides are more about a donation to their cause rather than a fun ride. (my opinion)

Yeah Art - my son has never done a police escorted ride. So I want to get as much of that type of ride as I can. I think we are going start in Frederick. Looking at the pics from past years it looks like all back roads.

Just hoping it's not like the escorted ride from Battley for Rolling Thunder, all slab.

C.O.P.S ride was great. Left HD of Frederick and they took all backroads to the Howard County Fairgrounds. They made a 30 minute ride into just over an hour. Was really cool getting to speak with all the LEO there and have them show my son and I thier equipment. I was very impressed to say the least, and extrememly thankful we have people like those there that will put thier life on the line for me and my family. Great weather to boot!
