It is a question about GL 1800 -07 European version. They say that we can`t install CB to that version  ....only in American version we can do it. I mean OEM CB. Can it be possibly ? Maybe someone knows...Hal for example... :)

I can see where that is a definite possibility. In the US, the 27mHz frequencies for CB radio is either AM (Amplitude Modulation) or SSB (Single Side Band). In Europe, specifically in the UK, they use 27mHz FM (Frequency Modulation).

You can read more here: http://www.answers.com/topic/cb-radio-i ... ed-kingdom

If Honda (US) CB's were installed in the UK, they would probably violate CEPT (the UK version of the FCC) rules and regulations.

I would contact Honda UK and get a definitive answer from them or see if they have a European version CB for the Goldwing.

Lenni,

I can't answer the specific question. However I will share what I remember about Europe.

I lived in Paris and Brussels for a period of 16 years. During that time, it became very evident, that the individual European countries had varied ideas and interest concerning TVs and radio receivers.

A tax had to be paid for each receiver that you owned. Be it television or AM/FM radio.

Secondly, US radios would not work in all the parts of Europe that I lived and travelled in. The Frequencies are different. In the US, the frequencies are lined up to end in odd numbers, such as 77.7 or 103.5. In Europe, the frequencies ended with even numbers IE 100.2 etc.

Also, I do not recall Cb's being used in Europe, they could have been, but I did not see any.

Perhaps this is the problem.

Seems that the European nations like to tax these type appliances annually.

Sorry that I could not help you more.

Say hello to Santa and Rudolph

I'm curious. Does the European version have the CB controls on the handle bars and a CB button on the sound system? If it does there would likely be a European CB to operate with it. If not I would guess you're SOL.

I did a little more research on this using Google and come up with this site. Scroll down about 3/4 of the way and you'll find a lot of information on the European/UK version of the wing and CB issues:

I hope this helps.

The CB he shows going in has an FCC type acceptance number, so it's an American version. Probably not legal in the UK.
