Car tire for front of 2005 GW Champion

Will someone please tell me what kind of car tire (by name) and size they have successfully used on the front of the trike please? I'm already convinced that this is what I want to do, so I don't need any advice in that area or a discussion of the +'s or -'s that have been bantered about. Just the facts please. What size (car tire nomenclature) and brand name and I do not want a radial. Thanks for your help in advance.............cd

There is no "car" tire presently made that will fit a stock front end of a GL1800. The best tire presently used on the front end of a GL1800 trike are the Michelin MPA and Bridgestone BT45 both of which are "rear" bias motorcycle tires.

One could add a car tire to the front end of a GL1800 with the springer front end supplied by Euro trike which at last check cost over $4K. You'd still need to have the front fender modified/widened. $4K would buy about 40 "rear" mc tires giving you a range of at least 800K miles (20K miles per tire). :p
This the wrong board for c/t's on motercycles:shrug::roll: sorry just couldn't help myself:thumbup:

Why would you want a car tire on the front of your trike.
Go here for info on the ExtensoDive front suspension with 14” EML wheel for Trikes or Sidecars.

Note: If you have to ask the price you can't afford it. ;)

A car tire on the front makes perfect sense to me:
1: Since a bike does not lean, it has a better tread pattern for trike riding
2: Could run a "run flat" on the front.

3: Since you have car tires on the back, why not on the front.

4: Plug and go in a safer manner than plugging a MC tire on the front

Again, makes good sense to run a car tire...they just don't make one that will fit without spending a fortune to change out forks and fender.

If there was one that would fit the stock GL front wheel I would have one my self, due to the amount of surface that would be on the ground. But allas there isn't any.....:-(

Wingman, go to the top of this page and click on FORUMS, then go to the bottom of that page and go to the right of GL1800 trikes, you will find

THE DARKSIDE RIDERS

Darkside Riders The owners of this website does not endorse the use of "any" car tires on a motorcycle. This board has been created so that there is no confusion that the owners of this site does not recommend, advocate or encourage the use of car tires on a motorcycle. All car tire threads will be moved here.

Lots of car tire information....good luck....

George, my friend, I think the darksiders primarily talk car tires on the rear and for bikes, not trikes. No slam intended.
