I have used the Midland handheld on my other bike and found if the power switch was in the high power position the transmit would squeal. When I ran it on low power I had no problem at all. Range was short, but the batteries lasted longer and no noise. When hooked into the bike electrical system, I always picked up alternator noise until I used a ground loop isolator on the speaker output that went into my headset.

Can you provide some directions regarding the ground loop isolator for the handheld cb?

I use the Ground Loop Isolator that would plug in-line with the speaker of the headset to remove the electrical whine. The one I use is from Electrical Connection. Also great if you use an MP3 player that charges from the bike. My Lowrance GPS that has 4 Gig of MP3's would always whine when I used my helmet setup. Plugged the isolator in-line and all that whine is gone.
