Just stayed four nights at the Bellagio in Las Vegas...... great hotel. Sure wish they were a chain!

The showgirls out front to greet you were Primo!!!!!

... yea, Super 8's..... I suspect any hotel that has rooms under $60 is such that NONE of that money is going to maintain the rooms....... Consider, after everyone is paid that works at the place, all the bills are paid (electric/water), where is the profit to maintain and improve the rooms?

Whaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

You are expecting way too much. You asked for a smoking room. You got it. Let me guess....you use Wal-Mart filters and cheap oil and still complain?

I try and stay at Hampton Inn, Yes it is more money but you can depend on it more. Some are 89.00 plus tax, these are the ones away from cities and interstates. With my reward points I have a free night at certain one's.

We're also having good luck with Best Western out West.

Had a similar problem with Super 8. When I was checking out I voiced my displeasure in a cordial manner. They asked me what would make me happy, and my wife piped up and said refund. They promptly provided it. *That* is good business, for I will continue to give them a chance ...

We are all spoiled, where did Joseph and Mary sleep?

Motel 6 and hotel 8 or whatever there names are.
They make there money off "one night stands". They can rent the same room out 2-3 times in one night and never have to change or clean anything. Just remake the bed.
You showed up on a motorcycle.
You asked for a cheep room, you got one.
You asked for a smoking room, you got one.
It sounds to me, you got your monies worth.
Pay another $20 and live a little.

I am sure they will pass your letter on to Mr. Patel.
:lol::bow::bow::bow:

My wife is a Hindu....and I have more fun with that.......Mr. Patel just called and wants a really good price on a new water heater......lol......giggle..snort......oh my.......Mr. Patel.........

Personally, I like the dicey places. You know you've hit the jackpot when you get bowled over by a hot curry and oil bouquet when you walk in the lobby. Then you can haggle over the price with the desk clerk with the distinct advantage of her being worried about burning dinner. You already know the room will stink and be filthy so the element of surprise is not a risk. Resident vermin can be distracted by throwing some old road snacks in a corner to keep em busy all night. Sweet dreams!

Ladies ladies. How hard is it to do a quick room look see. you know- "Has the Room & Bathroom been cleaned that day or not?" If is hasn't?. I simply ask for another room. If none are availably I move on. I don't give a dam how long I been driving or tired I am-I'm not sleeping in someones else's filth!
If you stay in a dirty room then don't blame the lazy staff-Blame yourself for lowering your standards!.

Right on! Super (sucker) 8 and Motel 6 (motel sux) have no corporate quality consistancy or standards. You will occasionally find one owned and managed by someone who does a good job, but most are owned by absent investors and operated by the cheapest help they can hire. Just one bad incident should teach you to get the key and look before you hand them your CC. Be a realist: don't expect a refund. You can bet that when you signed your name it had a disclaimer attached.

I got a room at La Quinta once because they had SpeedTV on their system and I wanted to watch a Formula 1 race the next morning. I had never stayed at one and thought I'd give it a try.

But the room was horrible smelling and while the TV in the lobby got SpeedTV, the one in my room did not. It was a bad mistake...I went across the freeway to the Hampton Inn and got the last room. Also got watch the race.

Now I stay in Hampton Inn mostly (fabulous sheets), Holiday Inn express sometimes....but the Comfort Inns & Suites are pretty good too. Decent sheets and King size beds available at Comfort Inns.

When I was younger and poorer I would stay at Motel 6. I almost always got a decent room, but definitely not luxurious. I stayed at a handful of Super 8's over the years, but almost never liked the rooms.

When they say WE'LL LEAVE THE LIGHT ON FOR YOU--that is because the roaches and rats are crawling when they are off

Dixie & I stayed at a Super 8 a couple years ago in western Pennsylvania ... the "complimentary continental breakfast" consisted of Froot Loops ... yep ... just stale Froot Loops .... :eek:4:

Stayed in a Motel 6 once ... the bath towel wouldn't go around my waist (I'm 165 pounds ... 34 waist).

Hampton Inns are usually very clean & nice !!!

To the realists who've answered the thread - now, we see where the grumpy GW owner stereotype comes from! :?

I've dropped quite a few coins into various lodging arrangements in the Wyndham chain over the last five years or so. Super 8 is the *budget* brand, fellas!

Here's the list in the entire corporate chain:

  • Wyndham Hotels and Resorts
  • Wyndham Garden
  • TRYP by Wyndham
  • Wingate by Wyndham
  • Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham
  • Planet Hollywood
  • Dream Hotels
  • Night Hotels
  • Ramada Worldwide
  • Days Inn
  • Super 8
  • Baymont Inn & Suites
  • Microtel Inns & Suites
  • Howard Johnson
  • Travelodge
  • Knights Inn

Trust me, I'm not taking issue on the OP's problem that he had. Spending just a few bucks more (Try Microtel, or a Ramada...) can get you some decent accomodations. Super 8, by far, is the largest in the chain.

You get what ya pay for. Hopefully.

Checked into a Holiday Inn in Hagerstown, MD. Back in the mid 80's.
I mean like, Hagerstown ain't next door to Disney World, or the garden spot of the country.
The room was about $95.00. The clerk asked if I wanted a room Facing the Pool.
I replied, at these prices I should get a room facing the Beach.
I think I blew the NASCAR discount I might have been entitled to. :cus:
