can I use napa brand 5 year 150000 mile coolant to replace coolant on 2005 1800 Goldwing if not what can I use that's equal to the oem brand

As long as it is silicate free you should be fine. Some here go to their local Honda car dealer parts department and buy a gallon of Honda coolant. It is silicate free, pre-mixed and doesn't cost an arm and leg....

Yes, I know that we paid a lot of money for our Wings and you can call me cheap or frugal, but I'd be damned if I'm going to pay top dollar for 2 quarts of distilled water in that pre-mixed stuff. :nojoke:

Some interesting reading on Official Honda Coolant labels: Auto vs Motorcycle.





Honda HG states right above the ingredients: "this coolant will give complete protection for 5 years or 60,000 miles."






Just in case you can’t read the ingredients labels very well. Pictures didn't turn out the best with a pocket camera....


Honda Auto HG(Honda Genuine) Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2 $15/gal

Contains: Water 7732-18-5, Ethylene glycol 107-21-1, Diethylene glycol 111-46-6. Using greater than 30 ppm of a bittering agent.

Protects -34°F to 268°F using 15.6 lb pressure cap.(Boiling point increases approximately 3°F for each 1 lb pressure increase.)

Meets ASTM D-3306 - ASTM D-4340



Honda Motorcycle HP (High Performance) Antifreeze/Coolant $8/qt, $32/gal

Contains: Water7732-18-5, Ethylene glycol 107-21-1, Diethylene glycol 111-46-6. Using greater than 30 ppm of bittering agent.

Protects -34°F to 265°F (@ 15psi) boiling point.



Meets ASTM Specs: ASTM D-3306

Cap opening psi - 16 -20 psi, Temp - 169 -176f, Full open - 194f

Yes the premixed NAPA 150,000 coolant will be fine :thumbup:
