Do you need to disconnect the battery and reconnect before resetting the ECM? Some say just start it cold and let it idle till the fans turn on. Does the bike need to be cold or can you just start it warm and let the bike idle till the fans come on? I have read all three procedures and was wondering which is correct or are all correct.

Thanks, Mike. That is exactly what I found is true. I tried to reset mine several times after the ECM was replaced and did the "battery disconnect" thing the first two times. but failed to let the cooling fans cycle. I then read an article (I think Stu Oltman wrote) that said exactly what you posted. It worked perfectly.
