I recently purchased the Show Chrome Cruis Wing Kickstand and installed
it in my free time. Today, I needed to make a run up to Shingletown, CA
to give a friend a hand with a hot water heater.

Now keep in mind that this kickstand has a very large foot, supposed to
help with stability and stop sinking into pavement. Anyway...

Sooo... feeling a bit cocky, I decided to take the backroads, more fun with
a few twisties etc. Coming into a tight left-hand turn at a good clip, I
pushed her over and began to move though when BANG I was moving
very fast to the right, with the rear wheel in the air!

Obviously I got control back, or I would not be typing into this little box :)

At the next wide spot, I pulled off, and took a look, and this is what I saw:

Needless to say, I took it easy the rest of the way, and removed it when
I arrived. There is about 1/8" missing off the leading edge of the stand.

My suspension was set at 23, tires normally inflated, no extra weight in the
Wing, just me, and I weigh in at 173lbs. Now mind you, I am known to
push it, but had I been riding today with my Wife and a loaded bike, it
would have happened much much sooner, and the outcome could have
been sorta, well, messy :(

Anyway, just a heads up if you have or are planning on installing a stand
like this, it could do more than ruin your day...

I had the rivco piece that attach's to the side stand. Great for footprint, but you lose clearance on the left. I took it off.

I went with a chrome center stand and try to always use it.

That same kickstand was on my 03 when I bought it used. I found that side stand to be unsafe as it folded up in my driveway while I was cleaning the bike. I put the OEM stand back on and soon after bought the Rivco base plate/foot available through HDL. Now that's the ticket. Nice large foot area and it's good on soft soil etc. 8)

Wes,
Be aware that that cover will also touch down, I've done it a time. Luckily there is still some give from the kickstand and all I did was scrape mine.
