I'll be making a trip from Dallas to San Diego and one of my planned stops is Datil NRA, 50 miles west of Socorro, NM. Has anyone had any experience with the camping facilities there?

No advice from me regarding facilities there, but I did make the drive to Datil for dinner when I was attending a school in Socorro. Make it a point to have a steak at the Eagle Guest Ranch while you're in Datil. Near as I can remember, I ordered a $20 steak that they had to fold on both ends to keep on a platter (not a plate, a platter). It was huge! I'll be in Ruidoso this next week and wish I could make the trip just for the steak, but I can fit a 340 mile round trip to dinner into my existing itinerary.

Hey we went that route a few years ago!
Not familiar with the NRA.
Be careful of strong winds in NM before Socorro.
We had to back track to Datil, when we found out that Pie Town was closed and we were hungry!
Keep your eye out for the "Very Large Array" before Datil.
Take the Salt River Canyon from Show Low into Globe - fun road!

Datil NRA

Can't help with the camping but in the little towns watch out for the police.

If the sign says 35 MPH - THEY MEAN 35 and not 36.

You are a rolling source of revenue.
