Need recommendations for hotel/city search area. Central located with several eateries would be desirable.

Trying to set up a ride in, for about 8 couples, for late October and I am charged with arranging sleeping quarters

If you want several eateries, better stay in Maggie Valley. Centrally located, LOTS of hotels and restaurants.

several Nice places in Townsend and its only about 20 minutes from Pigeon forge, and about 20 or so minutes from US129
but probably an hour from Blueridge Pkway

or stay around Cherokee, NC lots of little mom and pop places there then you would be right on top of the Blueridge and about an hour away from the gap

We are stayin in the area right now from Dallas. Our group has 8 bikes and 12 riders. Staying in Robbinsville ( 18 miles from Dragon ) in a rental house. Check www.vrbo.com . We have a big house with living room, kitchen, comfortable beds, jacuzzi on porch. Very nice and saves a little money not having to eat out every single meal.

We have stayed in Galtlinburg, Tn. for the last 2 years. Rented a cabin at the Elk Springs Resort. They have them with up to 5 bedrooms. If you are able to get reservations, you will not be disappointed. We have also stayed at the Two Wheel Inn. They were great also.

My only advice is to get the reservations made NOW. Late October is prime fall color time and lots of places fill up.

You can't go wrong with Robbinsville or Maggie Valley.

Another vote for Maggie Valley and the Best Western.
Plenty to do and see along with great eating places(Snappers for one).

Just to note: Robbinsville is in a dry county. Otherwise, it is a good place to stay. Just plan ahead. We usually stay at Phillips Motel where you can rent a room or a house. (828) 479-3370. That is 828.

We have stayed in the Valley Inn in Maggie Valley several times http://www.thevalleyinn.com/Home.html and have enjoyed it every time. The creekside rooms are especially restful. It is american owned and they (Andy & Linda) are extremely friendly.
