Disabling the anti-dive valve 101

The thing that made me dissable the anti dive system was while comming down a freeway off ramp a little hot I hit some really rolled up asphalt caused by big trucks stopping at the stop sign at the bottom of the off ramp.

Since the anti dive system locked up the front forks while I was braking hard, the front wheel started hopping, the anti lock brakes fought against me, and I ran right past the stop sign before getting stopped. Could have been deadly.

After disabling the anti dive I can come down the same off ramp hot and still controllably stop before the sign do to the suspension being able to absorb the rolled up asphalt.

I just used a nickle with a small hole in it that fits nicely between the two halves of the anti dive assembly.

FYI

The anti-dive plunger has a stroke of appox 0.250" and I have measured some as high as 0.030. Therefore a nickle between the plunger and the body will not totally disable the anti-dive. I use a spacer made from 1" OD PVC pipe cut to 0.350" long. Then slightly increase the ID at one end with a dremel tool to sit over the lip on the plunger assembly. Two longer screws and it's all done. I make and install the spacer in about 30 minutes.

Cheers
Yes a nickle with a small hole in it the size of the smallest part of the plunger will totally dissable the anti dive. It will not allow the plunger to penetrate the valve assembly at all.
Much easier and faster, no longer screws needed.
