Disclaimer For Smoky Mt. Ride In

From all of the threads, I've given some serious thought to the name and purpose of this event - so important that I've added these words to the main page:

Just a clarification on the name and purpose: This event is a replacement for the Honda Hoot. Since given the task of coordinating this event, I want to stay away from the words Honda and Hoot, as they are trademarks of Honda. Let's keep the name as it appears at the top of this page, as we are having shirts made with this logo, and not get into a naming contest. I also do not want to get involved with insurance or other legal ramifications. This is just a group of riders coming together, and if it becomes more than that, I will respectfully decline being involved in organizing a future event. There are no registration fees, no kitty to defray costs, and no insurance policies involved. You are responsible for yourself, and the organizers assume no legal responsibilities. This is my disclaimer.

There have been other events on this board where there are insurance costs and liabilities involved. I'm not going there. As adults, we are responsible for ourselves. I thought it best to say so.

It is to bad that your statement is needed. This world is full of those that do not take responsibility for their actions. I for one and I think a lot of others thank you for your efforts to get this "event" up and running.
what if someone drinks too many umbrella bevarages, and falls off his bike

are you responsible for that??
Loren,
here in canada he may just be responsible for someone drinking too many umbrellas, You have the right to sue the bar, the bartender, the bar owners, the waitress and the event organizer if you meet at the bar for dinner. Thank the lawyers for this. I say this as all the judges in canada are also lawyers that have been called to the bench. It really is a sad state of affairs but there is even a thread on this site about stupid lawsuits after the 80 year old spilt her hot coffee from macdonalds in her lap while she was driving :wrong:

As far as I am concerned, I am going to the smokies to meet up with a some fellow wing riders to eat BBQ and ride my Goldwing. I expect nothing from no one.

Add to that list the host/hostess of a house party.

Not as long as you supplied the umbrellas!

I don't foresee any problems with this group, but as long as its out there on the Internet, I have to protect myself from idiots. After all, you can't fix stupid!

+1 ME TOO :coffee1:

I suppose you do have to watch out for those road signs. Why do they put them up there anyway? For sure they block the vision of the person yapping on the cell phone and that pigeon flying towards the windshield was hid and made me run off the road.

The world gets more stupid everyday, I never heard of such a thing, but have no doubt it is very true.

There was a lady locally, at Walmart, trying to get a cooler off a high shelf and it fell and hit her on the noodle, do not think it hurt her much, but sure enough, she got lots of money out of that one, or the lawyer did, someone got lots of money. The news said it was almost 7 million dollars.

I was trying to pull out a nail in a hanger under a home yesterday and it was stubborn, I really yanked on the hammer and the nail broke causing my hand to slam into the floor joist, after much yelling and cussing (boy that hurt ;)) I decided I would live. So do I go sue the people who made the nail? Surely they know to make it in a way it will not snap like that.

I am glad I will not see the next 100 years, but our next generation is going to have a rough road.

My Disclaimer...

I formally disclaim any knowledge of any event, organized or otherwise, involving The Smokey Mountains, Bryson City, Honda motorcycles, and/or any of the motley crew that hangs around GL1800Riders.com.

But I may just ride down there in June, just to see if anything interesting is going on. :22yikes:

Nah, all of our 'problems' are fun ones!
Irritates hell out of of me that you even have to think about a discalimer like that.......especially after all your hard work on this.
I ditto the rest....I'm going up there to ride and meet some folks that I share an interest with.
