Don't take this the wrong way, but we don't know for sure if this is even a production frame. During product development, it is not uncommon to use prototype hand crafted parts that don't come close to what is put out by production tooling.

I too agree that this ONE looks like total CRAP, but let's not hang MH without having all the facts.

I guess I'll be the first not to flame it. I don't see any cracks. I don't see where 2 tubes don't meet. I see what appears to be a cast lug with frame tubes inserted into it and then welded. I do see where another bead could be laid down to cover the chamfered area of the lug but I doubt it would increase the structural integrity. I have no idea if the welds are good by visual observation but I notice that they are not as pretty as somebody could do by hand with a TIG welder. It does appear to be plated which I understand can cause hydrogen embrittlement but there are probably post plating processes to compensate for it.
I am only a 3 year winger so I have no idea what Hal is trying to show. Tell us Hal!!

I won't say the welding will not hold over the long run, but its far from looking good. People at the shows will see this and wonder what Honda was thinking about by sending this crap out for future customers to see. If this is their new chopper model people will check every inch of the bike out and report seeing this. Word of mouth may kill this model before the first bike hits the road. The only thing I know my A$$ will not be sitting on it for a future ride.

Check the fork lock looks like you can lock your fork then forget to unlock it and take off bad idea. My buddy was parallel parked on Duval in keywest on a night train. as he pulled off the fork was still locked he fell almost rolled his body in to on coming traffic. HE was aright just his pride hurt.:22yikes:

Regardless of whether this is a production frame or not I think Honda is foolish putting this on display at the shows where thousands of people will see it. Not very impressive at all. :22yikes:

Those are the welds of Honda's non union skilled work force. At least the union shop at harley uses robots to do their welding. You can't hardly get anyone skilled enough to weld anymore for the money that most manufactures want to pay.

Yep, those union robots are way better welders than the non-union robots.

My wife was sitting next to me and I showed her this and all she could say that this is so sad. Now shes not a expert, but she have seen some of my crappy welds and knows there is a different between good and bad. I also know if I was paying for someone to do this kind of work and to let it out of the building, I would be saving lots of money, because they would be joining the growing numebers of unemployed.
