I did and it cost me a 150 dollar speeding fine (75 n a 55) :? plus the 300 dollar lawyer's fee
I was in a hard core zone where the police were not giving any simpathy. My lawyer got it reduce to 65. If I would have had an NC drivers license he would have took them on the spot. I was out of state.
The next weekend I was going through the same location. I was in my car this time and the detector went off in plenty of advance. I wasn't speeding then.
Thought I show my mount system. Nothing fancy. Tulsa radar mount with Passport and hardwired with Passport visual green and red LEDs and mute button

I'm with you live by my valentine 1, but I like the wind shield mount
just 2 holes and it's solid. You can pull it off and stow it away when
you park. The mount (cycle gadgets) Like it alot. :D :D :) :)

Just couldn't get myself to drill the holes. Mine is mounted with velcro and it is close enough that I can do any adjustments to the detector on the fly.
thanks for your post
would like to see more set-ups
At WingFest this summer I was at the Tulsa booth. He had his Valentine mounted in the left storage compartment :? and the LEDs were mine is mounted.

Ok, soooooo what happens if a LEO knows you carry a "fuzz buster" and can see it.
I hear in some states they throw the book at you just having one on your bike or cage???

air raid.........

I have the AirRider amplifier for the stereo system that puts the alert through the juke box and over the tunes. Mine is mounted on the dashboard and has the hook ups sticking through the dash right beside the mounting bracket.

You are sure right on the never leave home without it. A few years back I bought an M3 BMW automobile at Co's BMW in Fort Collins, Colorado and before I went one block I turned into the local car toyz and came out with my Passport. I have used it since on everything and it has never failed to protect me and the wife on our trips.

Bummer about your performance award. :( I did a test drive on a 300 C Chrysler today and also had the wing out on the interstate for a bit and they both pulled the ton fer a bit.

Come west and bring yer device wit cha and ya can do some major motoring for a day or so and probably not speak with the gendarmes at all.

generally, if a cop pulls you over and notices the detector, i'd bet a lot of good money you're gonna get a ticket. a leo friend always asks, "so how's that detector working for you?" :)

I have gotten two tickets while using my detector (Escort Solo 2). It is a really good detector and has saved my butt many times. BUT

Once, It picked up the Troopers Instant-On, but it was TOO LATE. Another time, the LEO was in traffic behind me and was not running Radar. He saw me get in the left lane and Twist-the-Wrist, next thing I knew, after I slowed down from 110, Blue Lights coming on strong... Said he paced me at 90 and wrote me for 75 in a 70. He said he really liked the bike!!!

detectors

I know that Virginia strictly prohibits such devices. They make sure you are aware of the law by posting signs to that effect all up and down the highway. I llike to use road sense as I call it. I watch the traffic, both going my way and coming the other direction. If I include my truck driving miles, this practice has worked real good for me, ove 2 million miles and no awards. I am sure now that since I have said this I will most likely get one tomorrow. Frank

Living in Georgia I found that almost all are using Laser, if you have a
detector that can pick up laser, 99% of the time it will be to late, as
it uses an aim & shoot that pin points the beam only on one target.
More difficult to use, but easier to prove in court than radar.

Radar will send a signal wide and as far as 2 miles, so the detector can
pick it up soon enough to warn you.

Don't get over confident with the detector (as I did) it can be costly.
(As I found out)

Used to have one and got several tickets, the LEO would always say that I had already had one warning. I got rid of it reason being my daughter was little at the time and I felt like I was teaching her it is ok to break the law as long as you don't get caught. Just MHO.

My Radar detector never fails me. Never a ticket what-so-ever.
I keep my speed at the limit, maybe +5. Works well, and inexpensive.

Never had a radar detector and only 3 tickets in 30 years, all when I was under 22 years old and deserved, all paid what was charged. Doing 75 in a 55 you deserve the ticket and related costs.

Have not had any moving violation since Sep 25,1977. 8)
Not that I've never deserved one,I've just got lucky over the years.
I do know that my wing will do at least 127.

I figure now if I get one,I deserve it,and will just pay the fine.

On the Slab, I set my cruise at 7-9 over. If I see a cop, I don't even bother to slow down. My experience and LEO friends tell me that it's uncommon to write someone for less than 10 over because there's usually someone right behind me who's driving faster.

I assume pretty much the same, on backroads and around town.

Saying around here is: "9 mph over your find, 10 mph over your mind"

Anyone hear that it's getting so expensive to process a ticket today, and the LEO's don't persuit unless speeders are 20 mph over???

I wasn't going to be drawn into a radar post...but what the heck.

As a LEO, if someone is running 7-10 over, I usually don't stop them unless they are in a school zone or work zone. Too many other folks going a lot faster.

Up to 15 I'll stop ya and write a warning unless your attitude talks you into a ticket. Fifteen and above, it's more than likely a ticket. Now again, that's just me. I know guys who write you starting at 10. Just depends on the officer. New thing here, if you are stopped going 30+ over, automatic court date.

Wi-Winger, did you mean an officer wont stop you unless you are going over 20 because of processing costs? Haven't heard that, around here anyway.

Ride smart and be safe,
Dep

And if the law is an illegal one? Or a foolish one? Or...

Did you know that there are couples in Georgia serving prison time because they practiced oral sex in the privacy of their own bedrooms?
