I have the Mic-O-Pegs model D. When I lean pretty hard the mounting block that is mounted to the front crash bar drags. I noticed a pretty loud grind and noticed the bottom on both blocks missing chrome. I am a little concerned since these do not give as the pegs do. The pegs of course drag first. Anyone else experience this?

I have only dragged a block on my Mick-O-Pegs once and that was in a hard decreasing radius turn. The drivers pegs were dragging first and then the Micks-O-Pegs mounting blocks....it only just scraped the bottom corner of the block, grinding off some of the chrome. You really can't see the scrape mark from the bike....but the crash bar under the mounting block was dented by the bolt in the Mick-O-Peg mounting block that holds the top cover and the arms to the mounting block....you can only see the small bolt size dent in the crash bar if you remove the Mick-O-Peg mounting block....which I never will do because the Mick-O-Pegs are the best highway pegs on the market for this bike.

I have since upgraded my suspension which raised the bike a few inches and I have not even scraped my drivers pegs yet ths year.

I have dragged the mounting block on different occasions, but I try real hard not too. Some times you just have to limit the fun a little. It does take weight off the front tire when they hit.

I am saving my pennies now for a Traxxion (sp) suspension upgrade

The ground clearance is the only thing that's holding me back from riding the Wing the way I like to ride my other bikes ('85 Magna V65 & '97 Vmax).
I can't wait for the Traxxion Suspension upgrade along with my 70 series rear tire. It'll be a hoot to ride then, I'm sure!

Ride safely.

Have you tried the mick o pegs that mount on the vertical bar? That is what I have on mine. The only way they will drag is if the bike is fixing to be laid down. What is your suspension set on? If it is low then increase it.

mic o pegs ?

Does anyone have a picture of their bike with the mico pegs installed. This is the first time I have heard of these types of pegs. Anyone know the website address?

Discussed this last year I believe. Your CG is too high, lower your center of gravity, the bike will move more vertical and the pegs wont drag. This is called sliding your ass off the seat to the inside - :)

The D blocks will be the first to touch in the twisties. They will grind off easier than steel blocks. Most who use D's usually remove them before riding twisties. That was inconvenient for me so I used KD-HS which allow the block to slant upward and puts your feet on the outside of the peg, a little higher and farther out. D's are really meant for freeway comfort and non agressive riders.

K/D's as well as any mounts on the lower bar will scrape before the bars themselves.

The only time I have scrapped the blocks on mine was practicing tight turns on a parking lot. Actually had Jim Mick send me some old blocks so I could just get the bike over onto the blocks and continue the turn. Then I learned an easier way.

Does that mean I'm not as fast in the twisties as I though I was?

Be forewarned. Anytime you scrape hard parts, you risk levering the front wheel off the ground. I don't have to tell you what will happen next.

Touche'''

It doesen't take much to scrape anything on the gl1800..
and if you scraped your foot peg for the first time you haven't
really riden the 1800 at all ..... it's a sport bike with bags..

There is something really wrong with the angle of that picture. Even with my Kury pegs the standard footpegs would still hit first. Based on that picture, it looks like even the crash bar would hit first, which isn't true. Since the standard pegs have some give to them, they make a good road feeler to tell how much you have the bike leaned over and how much you have left. Without that, you put yourself in a real dangerous situation, not to mention how much you are reducing the maximum lean angle of the bike.

Keep in mind that measuring the angle with the bike on the centerstand is also misleading. On the road, with the suspension pre-loaded, the bottom of the tire is in a different position. Also, in a turn, the suspension compresses even more.

Which part of the bike scrapping first is based on if the turn were perfectly flat, which usually is not the case.
