Honda hasn’t shared any info on their updated part numbers, but whatever causes the older ones to fail has been addressed in the 06 and up versions. Hopefully, the fix is carried over to the old version replacements. I wish I had the time and resources to build a conversion harness to allow the 06-17 ECM to be used on the 01-05 wings. I can say, that in the 16 years I’ve been on the board I don’t remember anyone having a new replacement unit fail. It probably has happened, but not very often. I have seen many of the ECM bulletin replacements fail. Those are the 305 versions that were installed as part of a service bulletin to address the over heating issue of the 01-03s.

I cannot find the PGM FI unit 38770-MCA-A21 for the 2004 gl1800 anywhere. It's so strange because it's the only year that revzilla and partzilla doesn't have. Can someone confirm the 05 one will work or the 01-03? The 05 is different from 01-03. Which would be better?
The 05 will work and it has the last software tweaks from Honda before they switched to the newer ECM design. There’s 03-05 wings out there with the 03, 04, and the 05 ECM running in them without any issues.

Hello everyone I have a uk bike with hiss and have bought a us ecu without hiss and need to work out how to get it to work. I need to work out where the secondary power supply goes into the ecu and if it’s battery voltage or reduced ecu voltage anyone with any knowledge would be very grateful thanks Dan
Sadly, there’s no Info in the US service manuals to help with the wiring of the HISS system ECMs.
