Electronic suspension question?

Does changing the electronic suspension from "1 up" to "2 up" tighten up just the rear suspension, or the front as well?

No problems, just curious. For some road conditions I'd like a little less softness with the front suspension.

Selecting the Electrical
Adjustable Suspension
The electrical adjustable suspension allows
the preload of the rear suspension to be
adjusted in four levels according to riding
and load conditions.
Preload can be adjusted on the multiinformation
display. (P29)
When the riding mode is changed, front
and rear suspension damping is
automatically adjusted to a setting
corresponding to the mode. (P118)

Again, what a wonderful group of folks that freely share info on the site most of the time w/o bashing someone. Atta-boy reginaldmc

Traxxion does make a decoupling kit so that the damping is set permanently to Sport Mode settings. I have only seen one member here mention that he has them installed but no feedback. Here is the info from Traxxion:

Product Description

Traxxion Dynamics has created a Suspension Decoupling Kit for the 2018 Honda Gold Wing Tour. This kit is an extremely inexpensive way to get a small improvement out of the electronically adjustable shocks on the Tour Model Wings ONLY. This kit is not used on the Standard Model Wings.

The Tour has shock absorbers that have damping adjustment that is changed when you change “Modes”. Selecting a different mode alters drivetrain performance characteristics, and unfortunately in our opinion, it alters suspension characteristics as well. The stock shock absorbers have very soft springs and are underdamped. Putting the bike into “Sport” mode gives the shock absorbers the most damping control they are capable of attaining. With this kit, you will put your bike into Sport Mode, and then disconnect the shock adjusters and block off the connectors and the wiring harness. Then you can change into any mode you want and your suspension will be functioning the best it’s capable of without upgrading the shock absorbers.

To install the kit, see the installation video on YouTube. WARNING!!! It is important to note that putting the block-off connectors on the front shock absorber is VERY difficult. There is very little room to work, and it is likely to be VERY frustrating. In the end, the result will be worth it!

Hi gkc501,

A lot people are confused by the "electronic suspension" adjustment.

Electronic damping adjustment happens on Tour models only when you change "Modes".

What you are referring to is the rear shock spring preload adjustment, which does sort of happen electronically, but is not "electronic suspension adjustment". It's an electric motor that pushes oil into a hydraulic slave cylinder which adds or removes spring pressure from the rear of the bike.

There is no spring preload adjustment on the front of any 2018+ Wing.
