Had a meeting in a town about 10 miles from here last night so I thought I'd take the wing. Now here in southern Minn. I-90 is fairly flat and straight and not alot of traffic. I was about to my off ramp, at this point I-90 has a slight curve and small incline,I saw traffic on the other side of I-90 but that is normal, when all of a sudden I realized there was a car on my side and coming at me in the passing lane. I was in the left lane and got passed him OK. After thinking about it later I realized I had lost a second or two of time to react. First there was disbelief that a car was going the wrong way on the Interstate out in the middle of nowhere. Second what lane was he in and what was he going to do? Now remember we were closing on each other at 70 MPH each. By the time I got everything sorted out we were 300FT apart. My point is I can see how people hit head on in a situation like that, I always thought you would see them and just get out of their way. Oh I failed to mention it was 7:10 pm and I had the sun in my eyes which didn't help much either. Called 911 and by the time I got 1 mile down the road I met a county deputy headed for I-90 lights and siren on at a high rate of speed. Hope they got him before he killed somebody.

Definitely not funny. When my brother was still married, his wifes' grandfather shouldn't have been still driving. There is a country highway that goes over I-80, and the west bound 80 exit ramp to this highway, and the frontage road entrance south of this ramp are very close together. He was going north on the highway, and turned onto the exit ramp instead of the frontage road. So, now he was headed west in the eastbound lane of I-80. Some local LEO's were called and got him pulled over. They told him to follow them to the station. He did, and when they stopped, he ran into the back of their car. I believe that was the last time he drove.

Late one night with almost no traffic, my wife starts screaming, He’s on our side of the road. I’m telling her to calm down as he is staying in his lane, what’s your problem? She reminded me that we were on the interstate. Then I spent a couple minutes worrying which one of us were on the wrong side.

That has happened to me twice. Both times it was within 10 miles of each other and also both times it was real foggy out. Good thing traffic was light and I was in the right hand lane because both times it was in the blink of the eye and we were passing each other. YES, I was going in the right direction both times. LOL's

Wrong Lane

Happened in Jonesboro, Arkansas 5 weeks ago. An 18 wheeler was going the wrong way in the wrong lane of a 4 lane highway. My brother lost his life when he met the truck on an overpass that curves. The truck did not hit him because he laid his bike (and his life) down to prevent being squashed by a Core Carriers truck driven by Loretta Grizzle.

Be careful out there...............

Now we play the Wait and see game..........

Wrong way

I had a police officer tell me once that he had never worked a head on accident in the slow lane. Always in the fast lane. I'm sure there have been some but in the fog or heavy rain, I try to stay out of the fast lane.

When someone is driving while drunk they will ride in the right hand lane thinking that it's the safest and they won't be pulled over. What they don't realize is that going the wrong way and they are in the high speed lane. A lot of times they don't have there lights on at night. That's why you should never ride the left lane at night unless you can see tailights ahead of you.

In 1972 a drunk driver was driving north bound in the south bound lanes of a major street here in so Cal. Both cars in front of me served and missed him. The last thing I saw was his headlights. We hit head on each going 35 mph. I hit him so hard I flew over the top of his 1966 Chrysler and landed on the divider. Lots of cuts and bruises, lots of stitches.......no broken bones. I was in the hospital for a week but made a full recovery. The drunk driver turned out to be an off duty LEO with a prostitute in the car. No charges were ever filed! That was 34 years ago August 23rd! I was on a Honda 450 and today its a GW!

Correct, as a once LEO Don't drive in the left lane, that's where drunks ans confused people drive, they think their on a two lane and their in the correct lane....another thing, around here we have a lot of passing lanes on 2 lanes roads, hills and such, some will drive in the left lane of the passing side( going up the hill), this is dangerous also. People will pass ( and most have the dotted yellow line on their side, which means that can pass on thier side) the ones driving in the passing lane will get hit head on... stay to right expect to pass!!!!!

Be safe out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A couple of months ago I saw a car (FL tags, old folks) with their blinker on at the off ramp for I-985. I tried my best to beep, shout, & block.
Didn't work.
The ramp was crowded too. Lots of startled people with lots of time to stop and react. They all beeped, shouted, & blocked.
Those confused Floridians managed to navigate down the off ramp however and procede northbound on the southbound side.
I made a 911 call and hoped for the best.

Jake...to bad they didn't hang him up by his thumbs. Thirtyfour years ago there was still a lot of the good old boy stuff going on, probably how he got away with it.

Glad you're still riding.

Bill, not all FL folks have blue hair. Mine is still rather dark..
