F6B passenger

Considering a new F6B. Have any of you had a passenger and toured over a weekend with some distance? What was the general feeling of your passenger? Greatly diminished over the full wing?

I have a 13 F6B with Mustang seat . Went on a 800 mile trip with wifey 3 weeks ago. Had to make a few extra rest stops for the wife to stretch out her legs but usually I can go tank to tank. The full wing is better for the passenger according to wifey as we have gone on 4 test rides on the new full wing. Myself I find the full wing a little cramped for me. She did like the Alaskan sheepskin seat pad I provided for her though.

I owned a Valkyrie Interstate for over 10 years that I traded on a 2013 F6B. Despite adding a taller windshield, passenger footboards, Baker Air Wings and an Ultimate seat with passenger backrest I could never get my wife comfortable on the F6B. She felt safer and more tucked in to the trunk on the Valkyrie. She also felt the backrest wasn't adequate and had give in it, which added to her lack of secure feeling. I felt cramped on the Wing when I first sat on it and loved the extra room on the F6B. I eventually traded the F6B on a new Wing and had a custom Ultimate King seat made for me that pushed me back from the bars a few inches and I am satisfied with it now, and my wife loves the back of the Wing so everyone is happy.

My wife would rather be on the back of a full Wing, caught her sleeping a few times on my old 02 Wing! She says the comfort is not there on the F6 and I added a quick release full trunk with a backrest for when she rides and she say's it's better but it's not a Wing. Good thing she only rides a few times a year cause I love my F6!

Same story when I had the Kawasaki 1600 Classic. Put a $200 back rest on it and took wife for a 100 jaunt through the twisties with a lunch stop thrown in. Got back home and asked what she thought - "I like my road sofa on the trike much, much better." Sold the Kawasaki for other reasons but I was really hoping she would like it. Once they're spoiled on a Wing it's real hard to pry them off of one.
First of all......I own a 2015 Matte-Silver F6B/Deluxe. It was not my first choice. Indeed, when I started shopping for a new bike this time, I seriously looked at several others prior to deciding on a 'B'. But, now in retrospect...some 2000+ miles on.....I love it and I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

All of that being said.....I do have certain gripes about the stock seat. All of them are in reference to Driver discomfort, however.

IF I were shopping again, and a major decision factor was Passenger comfort above all else (or nearly all else), I would probably go with a full Wing. Even with the 'B' OEM passenger backrest, it just won't measure up to the passenger seat on a full Wing.

The 'B' backrest is very short...more of a wheel chock for your butt than an actual backrest. If you bolt the throttle, it WILL keep them from sliding off the back. If they should fall asleep, the 'B' rest won't stop them from falling off the bike. If they get tired and want to lean back for a while....there's nothing to catch them.

In short, the 'B' rest will never let someone fully relax ...whereas I HAVE heard tell of numerous people falling asleep on a full Wing.

I love the bike....but it is a drivers bike. For me, that's fine.....I didn't plan on nor want a lot of backseat riders this time around.

You CAN get aftermarket backrests for the 'B' that are much taller. But, each I have yet seen is about as butt-ugly as they come.

Wing'n it,
What model trunk is that on the blue B? I just bought a 2013 and my wife wants to ride once in a while. She said it looks cool! I can't get out to take pictures yet, but I'll introduce myself to the forum this weekend.
I have only had one passenger for a weekend and she is not a motorcyclist. She rides about once every few years and no experience with the Tour model. Every hour I asked if she was OK or wanted a break and she said no so just stops for fuel. We went 600 km each day and she thought it was very comfortable. I am sure the Tour is comfortable for a passenger but I dont like trunks.
After 4 wings over the years, I bought a 2015 F6B 3 years ago. Love it! But over the summer the wife said she wanted to start riding with me again. She hates the F6b as a passenger. Doesn't feel safe with stock short back rest. Tried the Show Chrome taller back rest. She said it was better but not a full wing comfort.

So bought a used 2007 Nav wing for her so she will ride with me.

Lol. I may have a used 2015 F6b (with 1 1/2 years warranty) on the classifieds once I ride it back from Las Vegas where it spent the summer.
Yeah, I think that's the bargain we make when we buy one...concerning only the saddle, it is a choice of fashion over function!
My wife rode on the F6B with OEM backrest for 3-400 mile days and always said she was comfortable. I upgraded to a 2019 Tour and she likes it to, but said the F6B seat was softer. I think you will be good.

Where did you get the trunk for your F6B

Hey Isaiah I too add a detachable touring trunk to my 16 F6B. A HD King Tourpack with wrap around backrest and rear speaker pods for around 350$ on eBay. so since your question hasn't been answered I'll give you a little insight.

I first purchased a deluxe mounting kit. It includes the holes cut in the little triangular pieces for the rear rack and mounting bolts.

Then purchased a rear rack plate.... Flat and very wide with lots of holes for different mounting options.....This was a custom piece made by some guy at a Honda shop at the west coast but no longer being made. You can very likely adapt a HD sliding quick release version and I probably will in the future.

I highly recommend using M8 All thread vs the supplied bolts if you go with the sandwich mounting option like I did ...makes it much easier to install and remove. I cut the M8 All thread to my desired height and used fender washers, (both rubber and metal) with lock nuts inside the Tourpack.

Your rear speaker wiring harness is underneath the seat.... It's unlikely you'll want to buy o2 sensors from a earlier 2000s model Chevy/GMC 5.7 and cut the bung off to use the plugs so just cut the plugs off the wires ...test continuity and hook up your speakers. I added spades with adhesive lined heat shrink .... If you plan to add a rear brake light to the Tourpack like I did plan a head for your wiring routing and where it's going to come from and into ... I used the Kuryaken Rear harness adapter to splice into my wiring harness without chopping it up. There is one specific for the F6B....it's like 25$.

Any other questions don't hesitate to PM me

Now specifically to the question asked about the Pillion.... I have over 24k miles since buying my F6B new in late 2019. Over half of those have been 2up.
The stock seat for me was terrible....I have a bad back/neck and it was too mushy and I slide around too much at 5'9".
I ordered a Charcoal Bomber jacket Corbin heated dual touring to match my paint and it is amazing for both Rider and Pillion.

My GF is what you would call a Fat bottomed Girl in the rock and roll world .....Thiccc hips/thighs too. She absolutely adores the Corbin combined with the HD King Tourpack with Wrap around backrest. My 100LB 10YO Son who has ridden since he was 5 loves the seats comfort but it's too wide for him to reach the floorboards. So about 3 hours is his max in a day. Me and my Girl can go all day!

What trunk is that? Any pics of the install. Looks beautiful. I had a 2014 Valkyrie that color. I have a 2013 f6b now, black. Love it.
Our bike has 4” risers for the passenger backrest. We bought it used so I’m not sure of what brand it is. My wife loves and and says it’s comfortable enough that she doesn’t have much interest in the tour pack full back rest. Can kinda tell in this pic and maybe better if you zoom in.
