Pismo Beach, Monarch Butterfly ride.

Thousands of butterflies winter in Pismo Beach. About the day of the ride, they fly away. Thousands of butterflies are flying around a couple acre park. It is pretty cool.

Monarch Butterflies of Pismo Beach, California

We will be leaving 8082 Walker ave. La Palma Ca. 7:30am and/meeting at Flying J at the 5 fwy and Frazier park at 9am. Then heading west to 166 highway to Pismo Beach.
Pack a lunch or get a Jersey Mike's sandwich in Pismo Beach. We will then eat lunch in the Monarch Butterfly park and watch the butterflies. Then head back via 101 and PCH. Round trip is 422 miles.

Love to have as many of you go as can.

Can't make the ride, but to encourage any riders who might be able to make it, the Monarch Grove is a remarkable place, and the multi-thousand-mile journey these fragile creatures take to get back to it is inspirational. Bring binocs and a camera. Also, you're an eighth-mile walk from the beach if you head west over the short Monarch Grove bridge, through the state park RV parking area, and over the shallow dunes. Last, one of the world's truly great bacon-cheeseburgers can be had in nearby Arroyo Grande at the Mason Bar. If you go there and have one, you'll thank me later. Stacy doesn't mention it, but CA154 leaves the 101 immediately north of Santa Barbara. It's a sweet 2-lane that winds through the Santa Ynez Valley and comes back to the 101. It's a lovely ride through horse and wine country, and as a a bonus, it cuts the LA-PB distance by 15 miles one-way.

I have not been to that one, but one near Monterey. If they are gathering there in Feb., it is because they just left Monterey between Oct. to Feb. according to Monarch Grove Butterfly Sanctuary.
