Hello all from Spring, TX. Just purchased my first Gold Wing a couple of months ago ... 2020 Gold Wing DCT with 5,800 miles on it. Been riding occasionally over the last 20+ years. Started with Honda ST1100. Moved to the Ducati ST4 and more recently purchased a Honda Rebel 500. Wife purchased a Honda Ruckus for use in the neighborhood ... was going to get a Ruckus myself but figured a step up would be good for me so purchased the Rebel. Eventually she gave up on the Ruckus as she didn't feel safe. Was invited to ride with some friends .. the Rebel 500 .. while it did well I felt that I needed something more for touring. After looking at my options decided to go with the Gold Wing. My first ride I realized what I have been missing all this time. Now I see why my brother who has been riding all his life loves the Gold Wing. Now I can't wait for some cooler weather to get it out more.

Welcome from N. E. Florida. I understand that feeling when riding a wing and realizing I should have had one a long time ago. First time I rode a friend's wing in early 2000s I knew I was going to get one. I get the heat too sir, bought a 24 about a month ago and have barely ridden it. We have had ridiculous heat, then a hurricane that rained for days and left everything wet so humidity plus heat keeps me off the bike most of the time. My back is finally better so my wife wants to go for a ride tomorrow, we are going out early tomorrow morning before the heat and afternoon thunderstorms.

Glad to hear you are finally getting the chance to go for a ride. Stay safe! Come on cooler weather! :) Wife and I want to retire to a more northerly location which will hopefully allow for more time to ride.

Well from the road! (Where I am now)

Normally from Marshall, TX. Like you, I came from the ST world, a 1300. Loving my '21. Know you will like your Wing, too!

Probably bought my first bike 30 years ago .. a Honda ST1100. Didn't ride it much so I sold it. Few years later bought a Ducati ST4 with the thoughts of using it to commute in the HOV lanes. Wasn't a really comfortable bike for commuting and year-round weather was a concern so decided against it and eventually sold it. Then bought a Honda Rebel 500 to ride just around the area and with the wife in the neighborhood on her Honda Ruckus. She eventually decided she didn't feel very safe on it so we got rid of the Ruckus. Some friends from work invited me to ride with them and I found the Rebel 500 was very uncomfortable for long rides. Convinced the wife I needed something safer as well for those rides. So started looking at various bikes and decided the Gold Wing was the best choice.

Very nice. I had a rebel 1100 dct as my first bike to get back into riding. What a monster. I couldn't get comfortable on it and I'm not super tall. Once I got on the Valkyrie it was a different story, so when I saw the 21 wing I traded both bikes. Wish I had gotten a DCT wing but the shifting is smooth as butter and I drag it like a sort spoke sometimes in corners. I did BMX racing and freestyle as a teen so the wing feels and handles like my Haro Master . Lol

Agreed the size of the wing did concern me as well and I wasn't allowed to test ride it before purchase. Once the deal was done my brother actually came over and rode the rebel to the dealer and brought the wing back for me. I wasn't comfortable with the idea of my first ride on the wing being on Houston freeways. My brother has been riding since he was 9 and has had a few wings already. He was more than happy to go pick it up for me :). That gave me a chance to ride the wing around the area and get more comfortable with it. Really wasn't that much of an adjustment at all really.
