Which is the best bang for the buck? I would be using the Kennedy setup.
I just do not want to spend more than I need, but do not want junk either.
Thanks in advance.

Check it out to be sure but I believe that the GMRS radios operate at a higher output power.
I know but found that in the mountains - power is not the determining factor - it is line of sight. Even on the flats I rarely get out of sight of partner.

Get a GMRS radio by all means - I did but not sure it really buys that much more.

I generally use low power on my GMRS audiovoxs to save batteries, with no degradation in useful range.

GMRS, at least part of it, still requires an FCC license. $75 for 5 years.

I would stick with FRS. GMRS is higher RF power than FRS and technically does need an FCC license.

More power = more battery energy = shorter battery life! How much TX power do you really need ?
