Sorry, edited post. People talk about using additives, was wondering if anyone has ever had an actual fuel problem.

Sorry wasn't clear, have you had an issue with fuel that did not have an additive ?

Depending on the storage environment, amount of fuel that was in the tank, quality of the fuel from the dealer, etc you may have had some water condensation or separation (ethanol fuel).

Add some techron, drain the old fuel if significant quantity, put fresh in and ride.

Long before E10, some equipment had a glass sediment bowl that would have condensation and rust in the bottom of them.

I would find a bare spot and throw a match if it had sat for a year.

Slightly off topic. But if you do need to drain old fuel out, what do you do with the old fuel?
