Your POI search works? Could it be something different on Canadian model bikes?

Did you actually do a POI search for something outside your area? If I remember right, it will show the POI in the location you are at. But if you try to search for something in another town, it is a no-go.

gave it a go. I cant search, but a list does show up, based on category. it managed to find a Honda dealer 200km away, and mapped it out.

That is what I expected. It will always find the Honda dealers.

Yeah, that's all mine does too nothing else in ANY category.
You may want to look close at the map that is displayed using 2023.20. you will probably see the street names displayed like "D...." This version has a problem displaying the full names of the streets for some reason. I saw this in a previous thread about 2023.10 and pretty sure 2023.20 suffers the same problem. I had this issue when I tried using 2023.10 myself. I went back to either 2022.25 or 2022.20. Street names now display correctly. Although there are some minor limitations using these custom mapsets, it's still much better than the last official update that uses maps created in 2016.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to help you find an earlier version. When I update my standalone Garmin's, I will usually install the maps to my laptop at same time. I usually will keep at least 1 it 2 previous updates on the laptop and that's how I was able to go back to the previous version. If you haven't been doing this, you might not have the option to go back.

`I am thinking of buying a used or new Garmin GPS unit to get the older maps. would this work or would I be wasting my money? Is there a way to downgrade my current Garman device in Garmin basecamp? I have a .img file (gmapsupp.img) for 2022.10 maps but I cannot get base camp to let me use it to chose the maps to downsize the file to use it with our 2 gig limit.

use mapsource instead of basecamp
I have downloaded and installed mapsource.
When I try to receive from device (Transfer tab) the map.img file into the software I get a warning box saying "Some maps could not be opened because the following MapSource products are not installed: CN North America NT 2022.10"
